Wanna REALLY slim down???
Sure, sending your hubby back to the ME, packing up your home to go into storage for over a year except for whatever you can manage to stuff into your one little car (along with kitty and kitty baggage), and getting ready for driving alone (cept for kitty) from Texas to another country, without even having a job in the other country and not knowing one single soul in the large city in the other country, is a wee bit stressful.

But this is ridiculous!

Years ago I used to model, mostly jeans. And I was the "standard" model size 8. So I went to buy a new pair of Levis the other day and swam around in the 8s. The sales guy looks me up & down, brings me another pair (what's with MEN working in women's clothing departments?!) and says try these on. OK they fit well. Thanks. (Why are MEN working in women's clothing departments?! Glad I wasn't there to buy a new bra.)

Size 4.

:wow:

WTF??! Yeah I noticed my cheekbones standing out more lately...but SIZE 4??!

Have they changed jeans sizing lately, or should I think about food at some point in the near future?

Or should I just write a lose-weight-guaranteed book and rake in millions? :D

1. Yes they have changed
I am a 14 or 16. Back when Marilyn Monroe was alive she was also a size 14 or 16, but by todays standards she would likely be a 10 or 12.

2. Sizes have changed.
And you may have lost weight too! But I've unfortunately gained a few pounds this last year and I'm still buying the same size jeans I wore about 20 lbs ago. I can only explain that by saying the jeans are cut bigger than they used to be.

3. If a guy is kind, respectful, and tasteful
why couldn't he sell you a bra? (I'm straight and used to work at LePerla). I would make you comfortable, honest!

5. I wasn't a size four when I was born.
I'm thrilled when I'm down to my size 16's.

It may work for you, but stress just makes me eat. :)

10. Same here!
Once I dieted myself down to about 130 lbs (I'm 5'5") and I STILL wore a size 12! I wear a 16 now and am really not too unhappy with how I look.... but the 12 would be nice. oh well

8. A lot of them have gotten baggier.
But to be sure, you could try on one of the old standard jeans lines, like a Levi's 501 or 505. Those have not changed.

Congrats on keeping your figure, though!

9. they've changed the sizing
they put me in a 4 as well and i weigh what i weighed 30 yrs ago when i was an 8, it did make me paranoid that i was getting to the age where the booty disappears but i really think it's them and not me

either get a doctor's scale or learn to check your measurements with your own measuring tape or else just keep checking your weight w. a really old pair of jeans to keep from losing too much weight

the men working in women's dept. stores that i've noticed are gay or at least seem to be, i think it is supposed to make you feel pampered without feeling threatened, but that's another issue for another day

11. Why shouldn't men work in the women's sections?
The section for women is only 10,000 times the section for men (with the same stinking stuff each year to boot!).

I would like to sell makeup with the truth behind it!

15. There are differences between and within brands size wise
Several months ago, I bought some jeans to grow into. I tried on eight different pairs of the same size that all fit differently. There are lots of different variables. This is why it isn't a good idea to buy a woman a pair of jeans as a gift even if she gives you her size.
You might want to weigh yourself to make sure that you haven't gotten too light or dropped a lot of weight quickly. Some of us are gentically programmed not to eat when we are stressed. This can sometimes turn into a problem. If you have and are having trouble eating normally again, you might want to see a doctor.

16. Weighed in and at 5'6" I dropped a wee bit too low.
Usually I hover around 118-120. Now the scale says 115 and that's too low. Just a matter of me taking time out to get back to eating properly...but Levi size 4??!

Sheesh.

17. I have no idea what size I wear in Levis...
But I am 115-116 pounds, two inches shorter than you, and wear 0-2, depending on brand. I'm wearing Express jeans right now that are size 0. My Gap and Old Navy jeans and khakis are 1s and 2s. It's been my experience that the more expensive stores (like Ann Taylor) cater to the "vanity sizing." I have a pair of size 0 capri pants from there that are bigger than a size 2 pair from another store. In juniors sizes (Hollister, for example), I'm a 3. It all seems very arbitrary.

I have heard that genuine designer clothing runs more "true to size," by my pocketbook will never let me find out if that's true. ;)

There is absolutely no industry standard.

Particularly emotional stress. Here's a  for you, LtD. I hope things get a little easier for you soon.
