Olympic human interest stories... |
|
I don't like them, nor do I think they add anything to the telecast.
Your opinions please.

2. I pretty much tune them out. |
|
Howver, I think from the network's point o f view they are the most profitable part of the broadcast, so don't expect them to go away anytime soon.
And in all honesty I have seen one or two where I found myslf drawn into it...so even a crank such as me can become invlolved in a personality thing!

They are way too overdone.
Every athlete has a story about how it was hard to get there, many of the ones they do are pretty much the same. Show me a couple of TRULY interesting ones (like the skater who was dropped on her face) and it'd be OK.
OVERKILL.

4. I don't like them but I'm glad they're there |

My SO said she wouldn't have watched the Olympics with me without them. I think they're for the ladies.

Another example of the difference between the sexes for the Olympics:
Last night we were watching the downhill and she was into it and so was I. She looked at me and said "Boy they really look good in those tight little outfits don't they? What were you thinking?" And I said "I was hoping someone would crash and break a bone". :D

8. For the most part, I'm with you. |
|
If someone really does something special, give me the story - but don't do it for every goddamned athlete that pops up on my screen. It's just personal preference, but I don't want to waste the time until I know someone is going to finish higher than tenth. To watch a long story and start to root for someone who's eventually bounced out in the first round is awfully annoying.

9. When the person(s) is disqualified or does shitty after days of media |
|
hype, I laugh a little on the inside.
Especially if the promo bits before and after commercial breaks still shows them, and they're out of the competition already.
