I'm ready to don my tinfoil hat.
I received a call and the caller ID had an area code and then the number was 000-0000, and it said unknown name. I was afraid to answer. :scared:

1. It could mean it was a calling card call; or a blocked number; |
|
or a call from a place that doesn't have caller ID, or an international call. For any number of reasons that can come up.
I wouldn't go for the tinfoil hat yet.

3. Do you have a security screening thing |
|
Sometimes, when a call comes from an anonymous number, the caller is required to punch in the digits.
The phone company doesn't care WHAT numbers are pressed, as long as it's done. When my kids' friends start to play games, we'll get calls from 000-000-0001 or 123-456-7890. I suppose they think they're being clever.

7. I received a call like that. |
|
But it was a bill collector from a collection agency.
