1. Oh man. That reminds me of that scene in "the deer hunter"...
...when all the buddies are driving around good and liquored up, and they all just fall out of the old car and start blasting shit at random.

I only take a camera into the woods with me.

Now that's what I call fun when I've had a few to drink.

5. My dad was a hunter
And I grew up in an area where a lot of people hunted. I never once knew of any of them having an accident and I don't know of any of them who drank before going out (they went out at dawn - none of them were drinking anything stronger than coffee).

The hunting accidents you'd see reported in the paper always involved these weekend cowboys who'd come to Vermont from out of state and make it all a big party - lots of booze and a bunch of macho assholes trying to out-testosterone each other. They were hunting for trophies, not food like my dad and all the other locals were and they were the biggest danger in the woods. Hell, you'd sometimes see the idiots parked at the side of a dirt road milling about like they were waiting for the deer to come find THEM.

I don't mind hunting, if people are using what they hunt and hunting responsibly. But I hate irresponsible bozos who go out blasting and boozing like it's some kind of game.

He used the "hunting trip" to get out of the house. I found out years later, he always left the bullets at home.

"Twelve birds, Mr. Vice-president."
