I did it. I did it! Mrs R MADE me do it, and I DID IT! |
|
She would just NOT stop nagging me about how I'd had the new strings on the guitar for five days, and they should be settled in by now. So she MADE me play...45 minutes!
God damn, that felt good. It's been ten years. And the best part is that I still have my voice!
Thanks, Mrs R, you've saved me yet again.

2. What a sweet moment for y'all to share. |
|
My ex could play well--the best memories I have from our tumultious marriage are of him sitting on the floor, playing his acoustic, singing to me. "Even though we ain't got money, I'm so in love with you, honey..."

7. My man actually wrote me a song and sang it to me when we were dating |
|
I tell ya, he swept me right off my feet with that! A woman loooooves a man who can finesse a guitar and sing a nice song. :loveya:
Music for the soul, baby! :hi:

It seemed that you missed playing very much, at least from the posts I have read.
Hope it was not too painful.

Good for Mrs. R.........
And....good for you!
I'm not one bit surprised that you still have your voice.....
Sounds like you were ready for some serious guitar work!
Would you consider bringing your guitar to any DU meetup that you attend?
Esp. if I'm going to be there? I am a sucker for good guitar music!
:woohoo:

22. Maybe so. The fingers are still AWFULLY tight. And, of course, like |
|
everything else, it's going to depend on how my shoulder reacts.
But I have hope. Because at least I can still sing. Amazing that the voice survived the years.

You have many months to get those fingers working right. But I won't push you, know that if you feel up to playing you've got a willing audience here.

26. Thank you, Joanie m'dear. I'm taking it slow. Not more than 15 minutes |
|
at a time, after the initial outburst...have to take care of my hands.
And the instruments were never my strongest point, though I played five of them back in the old days; my strength was as a singer and and entertainer. That's why I like doing Irish music so much; you're expected to joke and interact with the audience, not just sit there and go from song to song.

I keep on finding out that some of you folks on DU are not exactly what you appear to be at first.
Which BTW is my way of saying - I'm impressed.

28. I played country music for a living in Houston in 1976 and 77. |
|
That's not saying that much, because there was an Oil Boom then, and the bars all had Live Entertainment Nitely...couldn't have a jukebox when the bat down the street had a live band...
Was fun for a young man, but I'm not one of those any more.
