This week's LOST thread
Do you think the guy they captured is 'other'? I think he is. There was something bad in his eyes when he looked at Sayd, after Jack stopped the interrogation.

I never liked Jack much but now I am starting to hate him. Who the fuck he thinks he is? Mr. Morality? He really should have left Sayd do his job.

Overall I think it was a good epizode.

1. I agree. Good episode....
I infinitely prefer the episodes where they try to show different storylines at once. Last night was the Sawyer/Hurley thing, but also the Locke/Jack/Numbers thing, and then Sayid and his current and back story. The ones where they focus on one person and one plot line tend to be less fulfilling.

Honestly the characters and acting on this show are so great. I don't even care what the whole secret/mystery is. I just enjoy the way these characters are drawn and depicted.

2. Last nights episode prompted me to start a thread
There seemed to be an underlying anti-something message going on there. Many layers and symbols that are impossible to figure out. The photograph of the soldier looked at resembled Freckles (Kate) but I couldn't see it that well.
Of all the episodes so far, this was the most intriquing. Seems like they are showing us the flaws of the personalities and making them imperfect so we can change our feelings about them. It's becoming more realistic about how people would react in that situation, especially after strangers being together through the honeymoon period of a new relationship.
Just when I want to quit watching this show, they have an episode like last nights. Too good to quit now.

3. The soldier was Kate's father
It was the same actor who played him in the Army Recruiting office.

How about the guy who made Sayid do the torture. His name was Zeke or something like that. Could he be the Zeke from the OTHERS?????

5. So they let the clock run down and all they get were
Egyptian hieroglyphic symbols? I thought that was a little strange.

7. According to a "Lost" fansite
The hieroglyphs translate to, "It dies." Could it mean the smokelike creature from a couple of episodes ago, or does it refer to the entire Dharma project?

8. That's very interesting.
But my coworkers suggests that the hieroglyphs didn't finish as Locke rentered the numbers and hit enter as they were being displayed... So perhaps there was more to the message?

11. That's an *excellent* point
There's no reason that they couldn't have continued showing a longer message if Locke hadn't pressed the "Enter" key. Hmm....

9. And recall the Ambrose Bierce "Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge"
story was spotted in the hatch. The story is about a confederate gentleman who was about to be hanged by federal soldiers for being sympathetic to the confederacy. The rope snaps and he escapes the execution by plunging into the river, fleeing through the dark woods and finally making it home to his wife and children. The twist is that this was all a hallucination while he was dying from the noose. Interesting huh?

13. It was the book that Locke was fanning through in last week's episode.
It was the scene in the hatch where it looked like Locke was searching for something that would have been folded up into the pages of a book.

10. I watch show and missed this weeks episode. It feels wonderful not
to be tortured like you guys are! I may never watch again and may just read the threads instead.

14. I loved the veiled threat Sayd gave to Charlie at the end
He didn't say it but pretty much Sayd told him that if wants to find out where the guns are hidden he'll have no problem beating the shit out of him to get it
