The Curious George movie...
I went with my 4 year old daughter to see this last week. What a great kids movie. I'm the last person on earth to decry the state of kid's entertainment or who thinks that kids should be shielded from stuff. My enjoyment of this movie wasn't the result of any of that type of morality hoo-ha. It was from just watching my daughter enjoy an old school style animated movie with a good message, and some silly yet playful scenes. I'm honestly so tired of computer generated movies that feel they have to feature rapping antelopes, or robots doing extreme sports, or insects doing Robert Deniro or Jack Nicholson impressions. The 4 previews before the movie were for films like that and it was just such an onslaught. I know they want to reach a larger audience and want to attempt to entertain older kids andparents as well, but after a while it all seems so forced. I was amused at Curious George just by virtue of the fact that it had Will Ferrel and David Cross's voices, even though neither of them were doing their usual routines or shticks. I've enjoyed some movies like those others I described (Shrek, etc.) but every once in a while something like Curious George was is nice. I hope it's success makes the studios realize this.

Damn, I sound like such a lame-o square parent type.
