"Annoy A Liberal"

I went to the post office this morning. As I was leaving, I saw an older man in front of me struggling to get out the door with a load of papers and packages. I hurried ahead and said, "Let me get the door for you." In the entryway there was another door, which I also opened and held for him. He gave me a big smile and a grateful, "Thank you."

As I followed him out the door, I saw him get into a car festooned with "patriotic" ribbons and a large bumper sticker reading, "Annoy A Liberal."

Maybe I should have told him who opened the door for him.

1. You did the right thing, regardless

Always do what's right versus doing it to "win somebody over" or not helping someone because they're different. You can hate me but it doesn't commit me to hate you.

I just wondered what he would have thought if he'd known he'd just smiled at and thanked a liberal.

3. Hard to say

You know how you see the immature people on here say your not a true liberal if you don't (fill-in-the-blank), he might have thought the same thing.
I have seen people post on here, although most of the time I think they make-up bullshit stories so their other adolescent butt-buddies will stroke them, saying how "they saw a family broke down on the side of the road on a very cold day and they were about to stop and offer help but saw a Bush/Cheney 2004 sticker on the car so they just flipped the family off and drove away".

That's what THEY consider being a true liberal democrat, not ME.
