Rio de Janeiro State Public Security Secretary Marcelo Itagiba criticized the choice of the venue by municipal authorities, but said everything will be done to prevent clashes, robberies and theft during Saturday night's free mega-show, when 1.5 million people are expected.

About two million people are expected to turn out for a free Rolling Stones concert at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday.

The Guinness World Records website says the largest live concert in the world was by Rod Stewart, who reportedly drew 3.5 million for a New Year's Eve 1994 performance, also at Copacabana beach.
