1. Like the Oklahoma City Fish Out of Water |
|
The Marlins should be moved it's not good for *Baseball* that a team which wins 2 Series in 6 years gets broken up both times, because of money.
I hate the Yankees.
I hate the Yankees cause it proves the existence of God.
And God is a Yankees fan.
And apparently God hates the Cubs...

10. A huge Marlin's fan that doesn't want them to leave. |

Not Oklahoma's fault. Damn Jeb Bush. Rule number one in Florida...always blame Jeb because if it's bad, he's involved somehow.

OKC has a nice, relatively new stadium designed specifically for mlb expansion, and they've done well hosting the hornets this year.
I would hope they would change the name, though :)

5. As long as they don't have to get rid of the Redhawks... |
|
I'd rather see a Minor league game than a major league. Much more love of the game. I haven't been to a hornet's game. Don't plan to go. I don't like basketball. We don't need a pro baseball team. I can't stand Mary Fallen. Duckie

7. I'm with you on Mary Fallin |
|
:puke:
and I can also appreciate the preference for minor league over major league. Minor league baseball is fantastic. Truth be told, I actually prefer single-A ball to AAA ball. Even though I don't live in the area anymore, though, I would've enjoyed seeing, say the OKC Ex-Marlins and the Chicago Cubs play a weekend set at the Brick :)

8. I guess that could be cool... |

But then you couldn't get a ticket for 10 bucks. I had so much fun last summer sitting in my company's box watching a game. We're not baseball people, but those guys are great! Duckie

Talking about seeing the Cubs play in OKC is just getting my hopes up.
I suppose that's probably not the best basis for wanting a team to relocate to your city, huh? Oh well. :-)

for your sake, then, I hope OKC doesn't wind up with an American League team :)

More millionaires in Mexico City than in LA. Or so I am told.

13. I doubt it'll be baseball ... |
|
Although that is a possibility, the baseball stadium, even though it is very nice, isn't really not a major league type of park, so they'd either have to build a new one or significantly expand the one used by the minor league Redhawks. And that begs the question of what happens to the Redhawks.
As weird as it sounds, we're more likely to get a pro-hockey team.
Basketball is now in the mix as well. After the success of the Hornets here (they're drawing bigger crowds in OKC than they did in NO and at one time were ranked 7th in the entire NBA for attendance) the possibility of a pro-basketball team has become a real possibility, attractive in part because it wouldn't compete with or displace an established minor-league team with a loyal following. It's also the only sport that could be supported almost entirely by an existing stadium.
Of course I could be entirely wrong. :-)
