1. Depends on whether you're talking about the car or the shroud

2. I voted for Torino
But we were in Italy in November, and although we referred to Florence as "Firenze" and Venice as "Venezia" while we were there, we still call them "Florence" and "Venice" now that we're back stateside!

3. Torino
But as soon as that spectacle is over, I will immediately replace it with the proper spelling, Turin.

4. Uhm... Torino is the proper spelling.
Turin is the bastardized anglican version.

5. I thought Turin was the proper spelling.
Well, there's another example of the American education system at work...

6. Yep.
Torino, Milano, Roma, Venezia, and Firenze are the real words for Turin, Milan, Rome, Venice, and Florence. :hi:

Pretty much every country calls their own cities differently than what we call them. I never understood why. We're perfectly capable of pronouncing them as they are.

7. I'm a Gall Darn American
I pronounce things the American way - Florence not Frienza, Turin not Torino, Burma not Myanmar!
