So is "Arrested Development" over or what?
Edited on Fri Feb-17-06 12:16 PM by Taverner
SPOILER ALERT!!!

Ok so on the last episode, they pretty much end it as they would end any other season finale. The only token different is instead of Ron Howard saying "Next season on Arrested Development..." he says "On the Epilogue of Arrested Development"

So is it really over or not?

1. I've heard rumors about Showtime
I guess there is a decent shot Showtime is going to pick it up....would be awesome to have that show without the restrictions of broadcast television.

2. fox still hasn't officially announced the cancellation
and showtime/abc hasn't officially announced it being picked up. So it's still in limbo.

3. I still think that's a marketing ploy
They get lots of attention and support over the cancellation threats.

5. Yeah and here's the reason for that:
They're worried that another network like Showtime or ABC is going to pick it up and it's going to become a huge hit over on another network.

It sucks that Arrested Development has to be on Fox because I love that show.

4. I dunno
They sort of wrapped everything up -- but they still left things slightly open if it were to continue somewhere else.

That last season though -- phew, I almost had to stop watching it, it was so bad; particularly, those last four episodes. I think the writers became really bitter.

6. Fox killed Arrested Development like they killed Futurama.
The didn't advertise it at all and gave both shows the death knell time slots. *sigh* This is the latest I have heard...

Showtime or ABC could get 'Arrested'
By Gary Levin, USA TODAY
Can Showtime get Arrested?

That's the question on the minds of Arrested Development's small cadre of ardent fans, gearing up for tonight's finale on Fox (8 ET/PT) with four remaining episodes from its shortened third season.

It's also of keen interest to the pay-cable network, which is eager to import a show whose 4-million-plus fans would amount to a sorely needed runaway hit.

Fox entertainment chief Peter Liguori last month uttered the inevitable: Two-time Emmy comedy winner Arrested is "extremely unlikely" to return for a fourth try because of low, then lower, ratings, from 6.2 million viewers in Season 1 to 4.2 million so far this year.

Though Fox hasn't officially canceled the series, producer 20th Century Fox Television already has found two potential takers in Showtime and ABC.
