Music question: Do you find that rarities and B-sides cut from albums

tend to be *better* than most songs that appeared on the album from which they were cut?

Because I do, and am usually very excited to find rarity and B-side comps or mp3s floating around the Internets! :)

1. Absolutely.

Case in point: "Dead Letter Office" by R.E.M.

2. You can find real treasures on B Sides.

For instance, "Muskrat Love" was on the B Side of "Love Will Keep Us Together".

Gold, I tell ya, gold!

3. Oh hell yes!

A case in point - Porcupine Tree's "Half Light" and "So-Called Friend", both of which were cut from their latest album Deadwing.

4. My favorite: Emaline by the Ben Folds Five

Cut from the first album because it would blow the whole "band with no guitar" gimmick.
