WTF?!?! DAmmit!! STUPID Greedy Fuckers!!
Edited on Fri Feb-17-06 10:39 PM by Whoa_Nelly
This house is going for $249,900!! :wtf:

It's a firetrap. Would make for a great firefighter training spot.

Look at it!!! It's sinking on one side!!!

$249,900
2 Bed, 2 Bath
1,608 Sq. Ft.

IMO, realtors are driving the prices up due to personal greed. This particular house is in an area that DOES NOT have the neighborhood to back it up for the price they want.

This pisses me off!!!

In working with a realtor in this CA area recently, she kept saying, "I know what you like. I'll find the house for you.", then, kept trying to get me to look at places way out of my range, suggesting that I could take a second along with the first, blah, blah, blah....

Greedy MFs!

1. That house in San Diego would go for $350,000.00 easily.
Crappy little fireboxes in Barrio-Logan, a horrendous neighborhood, are selling for $400,000.00!
When will this bubble burst?

2. It's insane
It's almost impossible to buy a decent house around here, especially in these little rural towns in the Central Valley.

Greed...that's what it is...driving the market up because they can get away with it when there is little to choose from around my area of CA

3. Well, damn. I thought real estate around here was insane, but that
trumps anything I've seen in our town.

4. There was a house somewhat like that for sale in Seattle
and I just thought, WTF? I do not understand how housing prices can keep going up and up, and people's wages are effectively going down and down. Who in the hell is buying these houses (regardless of what they look like)?

I'm with you, Nelly! :grr:

5. Where is that?
A few years ago, I was going for a job in Merced and I saw a couple of shacks — shacks, I tell you — at that price.

The Valley's beginning to catch up with the Coast.

6. Having worked with several realtors..
... over the years, I'd say about 2/3rds were reputable folks trying to make a sale, and the rest borderline crooks.

You really have to be careful - many of them are much worse than used car salesmen, they will play with your emotions and if you buy a bad house deal it can mess you up for years.

Totally beware of anyone who wants to talk you into getting in over your head.

8. Thanks...have dropped that realtor
Edited on Fri Feb-17-06 10:56 PM by Whoa_Nelly
Especially after she tried to get me into a bidding war on a house she had listed that I didn't like. I was like :wtf:? Then she calls me back a few days later and tells me that same house has just lowered the price....and guess what??? She LIED!!! Two weeks later and it's still on the market at the same price!

I have to also think her trying to get me to make an offer above the one made on it was total bullshit, and that she was hoping I would make an offer above asking just so I could get the house... So insane after I had already seen the house and TOLD her I didn't like it, wouldn't considerate it.

10. You did the right thing...
... a realtor's job is to help you find a suitable house. When they start twisting your arm to make a bid on this or that house that you really don't want, time to kick their sorry ass to the curb. :)

13. Oh - she was gonna be the LISTING agent AND the BUYER"S agent!!!!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for her!

I'm glad you dumped the greedy pig. She didn't care a damn about what you wanted -you are dollar signs in her eyes. She sucks as a buyer's agent. Even on the houses she wasn't a listing agent for, she tried to run the price up - the exact opposite of what she should be doing for you. The bigger the sale the more her commission.

Don't walk away. Run.

11. Well, there's an obvious solution to the greed:
Don't buy a house.

At the rate they're driving prices up, more and more couples will be unable to buy a house of any kind, and will be forced to rent. The sooner more people stop buying houses, the sooner the housing bubble will burst.

Then many of the people responsible for driving prices up in the first place will lose their shirts, and won't that be fun?

12. Is there oil under the house? a small gold mine? a leprechaun?
Edited on Fri Feb-17-06 11:47 PM by philosophie_en_rose
:)

I suspect the land is worth much more than house. In some areas, a plot of land will cost that much. Even if the dwelling is a shack.

15. Trust me on this one
The land will only be valuable if all the other shacks in the surrounding neighborhood, most of the town actually, were razed for more of the new home developments cropping up here in droves.

Where this house is, the area is old houses, low-income families, near the railroad tracks, and the land around here is nasty in terms of environment.

16. Realtors are in the fifth most evil profession.
:) Probably trying to sell to out-of-town buyers who don't know the neighborhood. Or, just really gullible people. I suppose a meth lab would be perfect for that kind of house and would be able to pay.
