I swear my cat wheezes when she sleeps. Or is it snoring?

1. Sure, they can have asthma |
|
Peak-faced persians are especially susceptible to respiratory problems because of the break in their noses. What kind of cat is yours? It could be snoring, too. My male cat sometimes makes a sort of snoring sound in his sleep. Does your cat seem to pant a lot? Do you notice its sides heaving when it breathes? You might want to get a check up with your vet if you aren't sure.

5. She's a calico we got from the shelter. |
|
We've had her for about 4 1/2 years. She doesn't appear to have any breathing problems except when she's sleeping. No one in the house smokes, and she is an indoor kitty. Only other problems she has are lots of hairballs, and she appears to be bi-polar!

6. The word "calico" means "bipolar," I think :) |
|
I love calicos. My Bailey was absolutely bipolar, heavy on the manic. :D Come to think of it, she used to wheeze somewhat in her sleep, too. She lived to be 17 years old and although she did develop respiratory problems in her old age, she was healthy otherwise.

3. Yep, a friend of mine had a cat that had to take allergy meds |
|
It had to take Chlortriplon (sp.) daily. It was a peak-face, as I mentioned in my previous post.

It's a soft wheeze, and they have no respiratory problems when awake. Go fig.
