So, I just got an XBOX...
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 06:40 PM by FlashHarry
Picked up Halo. So far, it's pretty amazing--at least, as far as the graphics are concerned (the story seems to be in Duke Nukem territory).

So, what game(s) should I get next? I'm leaning towards either Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Academy, The Simpsons: Road Rage or Max Payne 2.

Any other suggestions?

1. get KNIGHTS AND MAX PAYNE
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 06:48 PM by Kamika
Also get the box with GTA3 AND Vice city.

Simpsons road rage is fun (haha) for like 1 hour then it's pretty bad.

Max payne is quite possibly the best first person game I ever played. It's like being in a Hong Kong movie- But be warned... once you finish it it has about 0 replay value..
I finished it in 2 days cuz it was so great I couldnt stop

Oh and get streets of LA if thats out for xbox...

3. I rented Max Payne.
It looked pretty awesome. I liked the fact that when you run into things (chairs, tables, etc.), they actually move! I have GTA III/Vice City for PC. I'm thinking of picking up the 2-pack for XBOX.

5. KOTR is pretty fun...
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 06:47 PM by Siflnolly
there are a lot of bugs you can look up on the net to exploit, such as turning any member of your party into Jedi, and cloning many pieces of equipment.

If you're into fighting games at all, I can't recomend Soul Calibur 2 enough. Like each of it's predecessors in the series, it's an instant classic...

9. Get SSX 3 (snowboarding)
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 06:54 PM by tridim
It's a stunningly beautiful game and the two player mode is so fun it makes me giddy. Just wait until you get to peak 2 and 3. My jaw was on the floor. I rented it last week and put it on my Xmas list, but I'm not sure if I can wait another month. If it goes on sale, I'm buying myself an early present.

Edit: Oh yea, NHL 2K3 is a blast if you're a hockey fan.

10. Question: PS2 or X-Box?
I'm going to reward myself with one or the other after my Christmas shopping is finished. Which has better games, controllers, etc? I tend to prefer RPGs, driving games, strategy games (like Civilization). Not a big fan of first person shooters, though. Oh yeah. I also like flying, shoot em up space games, but nothing that requires a four year degree to figure out like most flight sims.

12. XBOX
It has built-in memory, a fast processor and a great graphics card. Plus, it's solid. From what I understand, the XBOX beats all comers, hands down. The only knock against it, initially, was that it didn't have near the game catalogue that the PS2 had, but that's changing all the time.

I've played both, and so far, the XBOX is the clear winner. Just one man's opinion, though...

19. What, no GameCube fans?
I was tempted, actually, what with the $99 pricetag and all. Unfortunately, I like bloody, violent games, and the GC seems more of a kiddie platform to me. (Though I did love the old Super Mario Bros. on Super Nintendo.)

I have a Gamecube.

So far, four fun games:

Starfox Adventures
Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly
Animal Crossing
Super Smash Brothers Melee (Any game where I can pound Pikachu is more than worth it!) :-)

Just also got a add-on for my GC, I can play Game Boy (ALL the Game Boy) cartidges on my TV.
I have 2 GB cartridges so far, one original GB and one GBA.

13. The age old question..
You're going to get lots of different answers.

I like the XBox better for three main reasons: It has better graphics, it has a built in network port and it has a hard drive (a huge advantage). The only advantage to the PS2 is game selection. However, these days there are enough XBox games that you'll never get bored. 99% of the good games come out on both systems anyway.

15. I have a PS2 and thats what I recommend
PS2 gets all the games 1st (except those that xbox or cube gets exclusive)

And they have MUCH MUCH MUCH more games.. AND you can play old playstation1 games on it.

And the controller is best

I have a PS1 for that.

Does X-Box have a game in the Test Drive series? I still love playing TD5 on PlayStation.

28. PS2 for me...
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 08:00 PM by FDRrocks
I got the three major systems (PS2, XBOX, Gamecube) and an assortion of older systems ... and my PS2 gets alot more mileage than the other ones. Online gaming is free with the network adaptor... which is damned nice.

edit: Oh BTW with the genres you are interested in PS2 would probably be best. Racing: Gran Turismo RPG: FF series, huge catalogue.

11. Project Gotham Racing 2
Project Gotham Racing 2 is 5 times the game the original was. Be careful though, if you are even mildly into racing games, this one will eat your soul.

If you have broadband, get on Xbox Live, and get some Live enable games. PGR2 is one. Halo 2 will be. After you sign up, post your gamertag so DUers can add each other to our friends list.

Kamika just got herself another stalker by letting it be known that she's a gamer. lol, only kidding, I won't stalk too much.

But I often go and play with some guy friends I have, altough it usually becomes all football or wrestling games.. but it's still MUCH funnier playing 2 or een 4 persons then alone.. even if Sports games are soso .. and they beat me up like there's no tomorrow on the wrestling game

30. In defense of Gamecube!!
I know it has a "kiddie" reputation, but it's entirely undeserved. There are some real gems on this system that are far from kiddie. One of the best games on the Gamecube, and one of the best games of all time for that matter, is Metroid Prime. It is abolutely stunning and has production values that are through the roof. It's also as addictive as crack, and makes for one of the best gaming experiences you'll ever have.
For racing fans, you should check out F-Zero GX, which is the fastest game ever made, bar none! It's a futuristic racer with these hover crafts that allow for tracks to be so over the top that it's mind boggling. You have loops, corkscrews, huge jumps, and masive 3-mile drops; all at 1500 mph!
On top of all these sweet exclusice titles, it has the usual line-up of games like Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid, although unfortunately no Grand Theft Auto.

Any other Gamecube fans out there?
