3. The sequels were comic book nonsense
but the original Matrix is a very cool, creative, and well made movie.

Originally, the plan was to make a prequel and a sequel, but since they couldn't work the stars into the prequel, they ended up stretching the sequel into two movies. The prequel ended up as the "Second Renaissance" segments on the Animatrix.

the lead actor -- he's racing tom cruise to the bad actor finish line.
