Housecleaning Obsessions?
I have developed and obsession with my bed sheets. I change them once a week on Saturday however I usually buy an extra set of pillow cases so I can put new ones on mid-week. I am constantly on the look out for linens for the bed no matter where I go shopping. My most recent fascination is "White". They just look so clean and crisp. I have a few sets in white some with eyelet trim some plain. I mix and match them in different combos, then top it off with a red patchwork quilt. I love it when me bed is made with lots of pillows- it looks so cozy and nest like.

Anyone out there with similar obsessions or should I seek help?

1. I have one...
I will not go to bed with ANYTHING in the sink. I don't care if it's one glass, one spoon or whatever. I can't go to bed with any dirty dishes at all. When I was married, and when my daughter was still at home...I'd get up in the middle of the night just to check! Now that it's just me,I can sleep better:)

2. I always need to have the bed made and things put away
No clothes lying around the room or on chairs. I used to live with someone who didn't even close dresser drawers - clothes just spilled out of them. And shoes were never, ever put in the closet. They were all over the place to trip over. It drove me crazy. :argh:

So no, you aren't the only one with a weird obsession! ;)

3. I didn't used to
But since the advent of the Magic Eraser and bleach pen, you really don't want to know.

5. You too?
Between those and Method cleaners, I'm so obsessed with cleaning stuff lately. Of course with a four year old boy, I kinda have to be not to live in squalor.

6. Tell me about it
Mine are four and one. If I wasn't cleaning all the time CPS would show up.

7. I've spent all morning cleaning. I was up late cleaning.
The house is still a disaster. I need to see if I can sweet talk somebody into taking him for a few hours so I can catch up or at least locate the living room carpet.

8. Exactly
Weekends I get things reasonably clean. Hubby has the older one out right now, and before they left the kid said "Mommy you need to vacuum two times a day. This place is a mess."

4. I don't use the words "housecleaning" and "obession" in the same sentence.
I have a "relaxed" attitude towards cleaning my apartment.

9. If it is a problem, I have your solution right here.
I dread and avoid the one time a year I do bother to clean up; spring. My aunt likes her sheets washed as often as possible. I sleep in a sleeping bag on top of the bed and buy a new one every once in a while. I am the type of person who can wake up with empty Dr Pepper bottles right in the sleeping bag with me and an empty Doritos bag right in my face and think nothing of it. That evening, I use this sweeping motion with my arm and clear some of it out of the way so I can find room in the bed. I despise cleaning up for real. There is a picture of be floating around somewhere. In the picture, I am asleep amidst a pile of what appears to be trash, ashtrays, and liquor bottles. Ah, home sweet home.

I dread spring cleaning and live in the south, where in a few weeks it'll be spring for sure. Wanna come visit, pretty please? With sugar on top? You can work out that there obsession of yours while you are here. It will be cathartic for you. We'll have tea and cake while you visit, in between "therapy" sessions if you like. What do ya say?

13. Jenn?
Sorry, the Dr Pepper bottle and ashtray decor sounds just like my best friend's house.

14. Sounds like we'd get along great then.
I love my Dr Pepper. I just drink so much of it and drink it so fast that I get tired of trips to the overflowing trashcan. I figure the piles will eventually meet and I can just use a push broom or shovel when I have to clean it up. The only real problem I can see is that when I am wearing shoes, I have to be careful, because the Dr Pepper bottles have a tendency to roll under my feet leading to one of those slapstick feet-flying-up-in-the-air falls backward. I never knew I could get my feet up over my head until that happened. :P

11. Housecleaning
Yes, I must have my bed made --- no matter what. Once when I had to leave early and was unable to make the bed and did not get home until late I made it when I got home. The fact that I went to bed an hour later made no difference. I do not want to get into a bed that is messy. I agree with the great covers and pillows --- makes the bed look cozy and inviting.

12. I need a little clutter.
Otherwise, the collages would be worthless. All the books and papers make me feel human.

My obsession is bathrooms though - I can't stand going longer than week and a half to two weeks between thorough scrubbings. Top to bottom...literally.
