4. He took first place on Super Bowl Sunday.

I'm trying to get him to join one of the WPT's when they come to town. He is a stoney faced player...and does really well. I only know how to play Texas Hold 'em...and I am, apparently, not very good at it. :)

7. Congrats! It's a great feeling.

I've been playing in a NLHE monthly tournament for about a little over a year now. Out of sixty, we pay the top five players. I have finished in the money five times now, including first place once. I figure I've earned enough to cover my next 26 buy-ins.

I also play in online SNG's (sit and go) but I like the social aspect of being able to see your opponent.

I'm going to try qualifying for the WSOP via some super satelites both online and at a local casino that hosts one. Nothing like trying to turn $40 into millions. No way would I ever lay down $10K to buy a seat in that tourney.

though I would rather play against good players than poor ones. As the saying goes, you can't bluff a bad player. Bad players can be pretty unpredictable.

You and/or Mr.G know the four basic types of players?
Tight-Aggressive
Tight-Passive
Loose-Aggressive
Loose-Passive

I have the hardest time with the last group (especially in HE) and I'm slowly learning how to play them. They are just dying to give you their chips but often take large pots by accident. They will sit there and call you with nothing or the nuts. Just call, call, call. The trick is to have good cards. Duh. L-A types (Gus Hansen) just scare the crap out of me.

Yeah, they're called professionals. :) I would love to just sneak in to the WSOP like the last couple of winners did. It would just be a kick to sit at a table with some of the great ones and you never know.

MrG has been playing for quite a long time. Before it became "sport". :) I've only been at it for 2 years.

He is very good at the "patience" factor, while I am not so much.

The winner last night was what I would term "Loose Passive" with a whole bunch of cleavage. :)

Yes, I had a really good time. For the most part, I was sleeping in the truck after 9PM...I woke up around 12 to watch him finish. You can tell where my priorities lay when the kids aren't around. :hug:
