2. Mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, biscuits, etc......
You know, the usual comfort food menu. But all homemade.

I did buy an Apple Crumb Cake for dessert.

4. Use real cream rather than milk
in the gravy and the mashed potatoes. You'll thank me later. :9

6. I usually use half & half.
I do use buttermilk to soak the chicken in though instead of milk, or milk and egg. The buttermilk gives it a little more ZING!

Thanks!

24. On the subject of comfort food ...
Edited on Sun Feb-19-06 12:33 PM by Mme. Defarge
I made Martha Stewart's mac 'n cheese for a 2005 Superbowl party -- as an expression of solidarity. To be honest, I was never a Martha fan until she was made an example of and sent to the slammer while the "smartest guys in the room" from Enron remained at large.

Anyway, her recipe, naturally, is very labor intensive, but fabulous.

Good luck with your dinner -- fried chicken Sunday dinner is the best!

Although I was hoping to start another fried chicken flamewar, your post is very much appreciated.

7. Pluck the chicken first.
Nothing ruins a fried chicken dinner like feathers. :puke:

23. Yep--the technique is similar to pheasant plucking
And when you pluck well, it's a pheasant plucking life.

16. Make sure you hide the bucket the chicken comes in
If you are going to try to tell people you made the chicken yourself, the KFC bucket in view might tell people otherwise.

18. Check.
But honestly, I wouldn't serve KFC to my worst enemy. I don't think it's really even chicken, is it?

He's my "riding in the truck" dog. He won't let me go anywhere without him (except to work). Don't worry though, he would be happy with the leftovers.

It is a dark period in DU history. Apparently fried chicken is more than just fried chicken..lol.
