Would you go to the corner store in your slippers? |
|
I'm talking running in for milk and skipping right on out. They are just normal man type slippers..almost look like a shoe, but not. MrG thinks I am horrid to do this...he hates that I wear my pj's (in the car) to drive my daughter to the bus stop at 6:30...but dammit, 6:30 is just too early for me to get dressed if I'm not going to work.
Opinions? Admonitions? :hi:

I've never thought about wearing slippers to the store, but if it looks like a shoe I don't see a problem.
The only thing I would never do is wear curlers out. When I was a kid I saw a few women do that and I thought it looked awful.
Keep doing it, MrsG. I got your back :hi:

I drive to drop off and pick up kids in my jammies, too, if it's not too cold.

It's mom's clean underwear theory:

Except with mom, replace slippers with "dirty underwear."

That would mean that your slippers would no longer be good for inside use, because they would have outside crap on them.
other than the tracking in of outside shit (I keep an asian, shoe-free home), though, wearing slippers is just fine, esp. to the corner store. I doubt anyone would notice, and even if they did, it really doesn't matter. And places like QuickTrip and 7-11 and Stop & Go, etc., expect that their clientele will be dressed poorly, anway. It's not like you're going to the doctor's or the library.

;) One time I wore slippers to the doctor because I was preggers and my feet had swelled up to melon size and it was all I could find to squeeze my Barney Rubble toes into. The next day I wore flip flops to a funeral home with a nice maternity dress...and polished my nails. It was a horrid horrid time in my life.

But I have a good reason. My slippers are my "indoor shoes" that I can wear on the carpet, and I don't want to bring outdoor dirt and grime inside. It would defeat the purpose of my having indoor shoes to begin with.

For me, they're all purpose. I wear 'em as slippers and shoes. They're the first thing I put on in the morning and pretty much the last I take off - I have crappy arches (very high, need lots of support) so comfortable shoes are a must for me.

49. Sure. Why dress up for the grocery store? |
|
I don't mean walking around in a teddy, but I think my usual pjs are normal enough to pick up a gallon of milk in the morning. I do wear a coat and I would never wear slippers (but only because I don't want them to get dirty)). So I probably look dumpy, but not naked or dirty.
I might look twice at someone wearing pajamas in the middle of the day, but not in the morning.
In your car, however, wearing pajamas shouldn't matter a bit. If anyone blames you for not wearing your tiffany tiara, then it's really their problem. :)
