4 members of my son's hoops team have been DQ'd
for the rest of the season for unsportsmanlike conduct. That leaves 5 left, 2 of which never show up. I am so upset about this I could scream. My son wants to play and his "teammates" have let everyone on the team down.

4. Let us just say that is not far from the truth!
x(

They had a game yesterday, two of the players got T'ed up twice each for swearing, then when they were ejected from the game, they got belligerent, so they were "dismissed from the team". A third player fouled out, and let loose with a barrage of cuss words that would make Lou Piniella blush. He got "dismissed". At that point the team was told by the refs that they forfeited the game (they were losing anyway). Then player number four walked right up to one of the refs and flipped him the bird, saying, "Thanks for nothing." He was then "dismissed".

My son, who is an intense competitor, managed to keep his composure (for which I am very proud of him). But he, his best friend and another kid suffer, because they essentially no longer have a team to play on.

21. Whatever happened to civility? Manners? Common decency?
Respect for elders? Class?

The refs made the right move. These punks don't deserve the privilege (not right) to play.

Too bad for your son.

6. This is rec league, isn't it?
I got a T once in a rec league game. Guy beat me on a break and scored, and I said "Shit" pretty loudly. Ref T'd me up and I turned around and said, "Whoa, whistle happy!" He could've ejected me, but he didn't, and I felt like a jerk for losing my cool.

I wouldn't go blaming the refs. Sounds like those guys had it coming.

12. They are looking into that
There are only two games left before the end of the season tourney though, so likely not.

14. Long story
One kid came to the game with a chip on his shoulder and the other kids fed off of it, refs did not appreciate the foul language, etc.

17. That is too bad...
Society is not setting good examples of late for kids. I am thinking of the professional sports players who choke their coaches and swear at the refs and run after fans in the audience.

That is a shame that the whole team has to suffer.

dairy queened. hmmmm
