2. My avatar is funny
But that's Robert Plant

Drive was long and tiresome. If I could just learn to pack lighter I should have taken the damn train!

10. Nah ... the puny part
was my lame attempt at humor because I was getting Frodo's cage ready for her to hang out in it until I take her to the vet tomorrow.

Don't you know I love Robert Plant.

My drive home was very enjoyable. It was sunny with very little traffic.
I was so happy when I noticed that the apple orchards are already showing new spring growth.

BTW I'm beginning to think I may never learn to pack light. I'll bring my small hand-truck next time.

12. Betty is already posting about another NYC gathering for the protest
so that's our goal if we both go there - to pack light. I know I can do it and it'll be good practice for your x-country trip

3. Geez,
let's not give any credit whatsoever to the people that actually win these events.

4. Here's my beef
In the months leading up to the Olympics, Nike has sold us a bill-of-goods on this guy with all the commericials and promotions. To top things off the guy brags about how he has skied while he's been drunk. I mean, hell I drink, just ask any DUer who was at the NYC party this weekend but geez, I'm not packaged up as some sort of role model for kids to help promote a damn sneaker either.

This guy isn't Dan Jansen. Jansen's sister died like the day of his first Olympic race and for that Olympics and even the next he struggled to overcome the stress of winning a medal (which he finally did in Norway in 1994 - a gold). This is a drunk party boy who has some skills on the slopes and trying to be franchised by Nike and karma happens to be biting him in the ass.

I think it's funny.

I noticed that the Hermenator (a legendary Austrian Skier) got a bronze medal. That guy has been around forever!

6. OK, here's my beef...
He lost. Other people skied better. Big deal. He isn't the first, and almost assuredly won't be the last, corporate pitchperson to go haywire at the Olympics.

My problem is with our media being too lazy, negative, and isolationist to actually give props the people who win these events instead of continually raking the losers over the coals. Hell, they're even trying to piss in Shani Davis's Cheerios, and he WON, for chrissakes.

7. In defense of Bodie
I know it is only a commercial but what he says about "Happiness" and how a whole generation has had success defined for them (listen up ESPN and the right wing america) and that WINNING is the only thing and basically that if you don't or can't WIN it isn't worth competing has been disasterous to kids participating in sport and getting fat and etc.

I completely agree with him.

9. And, complains about the limelight, and hype but yet agreed to the
limelight and hype by taking a zillion bucks in ads, etc. If you don't want fame and notoriety, then don't create it. Just like Britney: quit acting like a fame whore skank, an the paparazzi will move on to Paris Hilton. How many photos do you see of normal people like Jennifer Connelly or Jennifer Garner?

So, Bode, next time don't sign ad contracts if you don't want the hype. Maybe they'll give some money to Anne "Grandam Luge" Abernathy.

So... GIGGLE!!!

18. I know! Xrays say she's okay -- but did you hear about Zhang (female)?
She came out of the Torino Orthopedic Clinic in a wheelchair. *sigh* Her brave skate last week may have cost her something...

For once, I'm looking forward to something NOT scandal-ridden and Pasha-related concerning ice dancing!
