Curling...God, it's so fun to watch...*Spoilers from yesterday*
Anyone else enjoying watching this totally weird, wonderfully confusing sport? And yesterday Canada Women beat the italian women 11 to freaking 3!! Not that it's surprising really. The only time Italians see ice is when they buy it at the store. And the women from USA lost by one measly point to the Swiss women. It was a great game, back and forth. And Am I the only one who loves to watch but has no idea what the hell is going on most of the time?

2. Have you ever had a party where you needed lots of ice?
And more specifically, have you ever had Italian Ice? Yummy stuff, and the kind of ice I was referring to.

5. Guilty here I'm afraid.
I'm just too damn lazy to remember to refill the ice-tray.

Will I ever be forgiven?

6. I find that putting some wet paint onto a wall.
Then sitting back to watch it dry has much the same effect. :P

12. I like it
Watched the US men defend their lead against the UK yesterday by simply knocking out as many stones as possible. Soon it was handshake time as there simply weren't enough stones left for the UK. It made me think of Forrest Gump, "Sometimes, there just aren't enough rocks." :)

I think I got the basics down, the guard, draw and take out throws. I can see which way the rock is gonna curl.

Has anyone seen the loafs of bread that are supposed to look like a Curling rock? The host has been giving one to all his guests. Is it just me or does the handle on those loafs look like errr.. a "male member."

I'm also starting to get addicted to watching this sport... it's pretty fun. Reminds me of when I played shuffleboard at my grandparents' place down in Florida every Christmas!

on edit: (Not to brag, but I was pretty good at the shuffleboard action back in the day... however- I bet I'd absolutely be awful if I tried to play now, though!)

14. Hell yeah!!!!!!!!
I watched the men's match yesterday from beginning to end and figured out a lot of what was going on.

www.curlingbasics.com

Good stuff.......the US Men's lost today to Canada but they get a rematch on Wednesday at 7pm. I'll be on the couch for this one......

It's like a combination of pool, croquet and bocce ball on ice. On a serious note, someone must have been bored to death to come up with this game.

And I see the women's team couldn't hang.....I see there is lots of room for improvement. 2010 Olympics here I come! Well, maybe not...it might be useful to live somewhere where there is actually ice...

With their faces painted and the cowbells.....
I think I'm going to go to the next Winter Olympics just to hang with these people.

Curling groupies. Yeah. Sweet...

20. The women's team is pretty good though...
Cassie and Jamie, the sisters, are rather good skips. The other girls are good too, but they mostly do the brooming. What struck me was how young they were...
And on how the game got invented: We've decided someone in a very cold climate got very drunk and started sliding rocks down the oh so frozen lake.

21. That's what my husband and I think too about the origins of the game
I'll be honest. I didn't see any of the women's matches, but I hear they did not perform up to their standard. But as you say, they are young.....

Perhaps I'll focus my skills on a 2012 berth for the US Badminton team.
