I think I just saw Bush's plane come in a little while ago |
|
But I could be wrong. He's supposed to be in town this morning to babble incoherently about something, so it's possible that the gigantic low flying plane I saw while on my smoke break was his. There are a lot of planes around here but this one was HUGE and my first thought was, "Please don't land on my house." (It looked like it was coming in really, really low.)
Anyway, I've never seen Air Force One and if that's what this thing was, then it was kind of neat to see, even knowing it had Our Man George in it.
Any Milwaukee DUers know about when he's supposed to leave? I'd like to keep an eye out for it so I can wave bye bye and gawk at the big shiny flying thing again.

It could have been his.
Actually, it isn't HIS plane. It's ours. In theory.

4. Good point. In that case, our plane was HUGE |
|
and it had better not land on my house. :D

5. It probably was Air Force One |
|
It's a BIG fucking plane.
I certainly hope it doesn't land on your house. Your neighbors will hope it doesn't, either. :-)

2. They broke in to all of the morning programs and focused on the plane |
|
(I'm off today, and glad, because he's going to Johnson Controls right across from where I work.)
"Now, the president isn't going to come out just yet so we'll focus on the guy with the headphones and flares."
Don't know what time he's leaving. He does have other stops.

3. Huh. I guess that is what it was then. |
|
There's nothing more riveting than local news and a "big" story featuring no news. The last time I caught the news when he was here, some local all-star was gushing about how "everyone here is very excited that the president is here!" Oh? Everyone? Did you ask everyone at the airport? Did you ask everyone in town? Because I bet there are a few people who are less than thrilled to have their day disrupted for this guy.

13. Ooh, ouch. Luckily he doesn't cut into my commute at all. |
|
You have my sympathy for the extra time in the car and for having to be in his general vicinity.

17. I saw one about a new use for duct tape... |
|
Okay, so I didn't "really" see it...I was happily watching someother program when the commercial for the local news came on advertising what their big stories would be for the evening and they said,
"There's a new use for duct tape, we'll tell you all about it tonight at 11."
I kid you not.
Anyway, it didn't interest me in the slightest...so I didn't watch the news.
This is in Erie, PA and it was a least a year (if not more) after 9/11...so even though it is Tom Ridge's hometown...it had nothing to do with duct tape and plastic sheeting.

9. A few years ago, sitting at the gate in Nashville, we were delayed for AF1 |
|
Had to wait until they landed before we could push back. One of the flight attendants came to the cockpit so she could better see it out of the copilot's clearview window, since she was a * worshipper.
As AF1 touched down, I remarked, "isn't it ironic that the passenger on that plane probably couldn't even find Tennessee on a map?"
I think I hurt her feelings.

11. I'm not really sure. It was just a giant plane that made me think, Gee |
|
that's a giant plane!
Then I put two and two together. It looked sorta fancy though.

12. He doesn't mind wasting a couple of million bucks |
|
shuttling around the country for photo-ops or going to GOP fund raisers.
But will he spend that much to armor HumVees or to keep a VA hospital open?
HELL no!
