A peanut butter and bacon cheeseburger? |
|
In the car today, the morning show guys were talking about this. I guess it's a cheeseburger that has peanut butter smeared on it, then dotted with bacon bits. Supposedly, it's delicious.
I'm thinking of barfing, frankly. It reminds me of Fat Elvis and his fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. They did say that if someone brought this to Pittsburgh and sold it, they'd make a fortune, and that is so true - we do like our fatty stuff here!

That thing sounds nauseating, actually. I can feel my arteries hardening just reading about it.

I like peanut butter and bacon. I like cheeseburgers with bacon. |
|
I do not think I would like ALL THREE together.
(Of course, I haven't eaten peanut butter and bacon in probably 20 years, and I rarely have a bacon cheeseburger either. Unfortunately, I will probably crave one now.)

Small candy bar or a few chocolate chips on a saltine or a Ritz. Drizzle with caramel ice cream topping.
Not, you know, that I've ever tried that myself.

Ok, I'm back... I tried French's yellow mustard with the vanilla ice cream. Bland. Maybe I'll try it with French vanilla and Grey Poupon... what do you think, Cherie?

6. This is served in parts of MO |
|
at least around Kansas City. I once visited the area and noticed it on the menu. Apparently it is a local thing it's not as disgusting as it sounds (at least in terms of taste, it's pretty horrific in health terms I guess :) ) but not something I would care to have again.
There is a name for it but it escapes me at the moment.
I'm not sure about the bacon either, I think that was an option or variation within the local area.

Sedalia, MO's Wheel-In Drive In is famous for them. Quite a few of the travelling food shows have stopped there to try them.
And the peanut butter is usually mixed w/ mayo.

It's right at the intersection of 50 hwy and 65 hwy in Sedalia. If you are coming in off of 50 from KC it will be on your left hand side. If you take I-70 over to 65 hwy SB it will be on your right hand side.

|
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 09:16 PM by xmas74
An old high school friend's family ran the place and they had a death in the family around that time. I think they closed for a while then.
Found an update online about Wheel-Inn that was added by a cycler (riding the Katy Trail) who stated that he ate a Goober Burger there in Sept of 2005. Also found out that they now vary their hours-there are no set hours of operation.

You have to go to Sedalia to get one. If that place is still open - I heard not long ago that it had closed.

it's a landmark in Sedalia. I think a family member died recently and that they were also talking about closing during winter hours.
Seems like there was an ad in the paper just a couple of months ago for a cook for Wheel-In. I've heard that Eddie's on 50 hwy (near Woods Grocery and Smith-Cotton HS) will also make a Goober Burger for you. And they make steakburgers there.
Goody's here in Wsbg has also made them on request.

I don't know what Elvis did with his sandwiches. I just smear peanut butter on bread and then cut up a banana in small slices. I don't see it as too much different than peanut butter and jelly, except that it is whole fresh fruit of a different type. I eat this most mornings now for breakfast. I don't know about peanut butter with bacon and/or hamburger. It doesn't really sound good.

PB on hamburger meat is good. So if you just leave out the cheese, it doesn't sound too bad, but would depend on what "fixins" you put on it. (Pickles and mustard would definitely be out.)
