10. One of the best examples of English weirdness
I ever saw was in an "I Love Lucy" episode. Lucy was pregnant, and she was concerned about the baby picking up Ricky's accent, so she had him practice reading bedtime stories. The one he read had the words "rough," "through," "bough" and "cough," and of course Ricky mangled them all.

But he had a point — four words with the same ending, and they all sound differently.

15. 'Ees me!'
"I wan' you to meet my mother... I mean my wife!"

We're having a baby
My baby and me
You'll read it in Winchell
That we're adding a limb to our family tree

While pushing that carriage
How proud I will be
There's nothing like marriage
Ask your father and mother and they'll agree

He'll have toys, baby clothes
He'll know he's come to the right house
By and by, when he grows
Maybe he'll live in the White House

Our future looks brighter
But definitely
We're having a baby
We're having a baby
We're having a baby
My baby and me

19. on the first day of 5th grade english, our teacher wrote the word "ghoti"
on the board, and said that if anyone could pronounce the word correctly, they would get an "A" for the semester, and could skip the class all semester as well-

he hadn't counted on me being the type that would read way ahead in the textbooks once i got them-
so i raised my hand and said "fish" (gh from rough, o from women, ti from action)

he didn't keep his promise- but he was an intern, and i doubt he ever made that offer again.

8-IMO, a bass (fish) or a bass (guitar) are just as valid.

12-Exactly how is the word'row' as relating to an argument, pronounced? I honestly don't know.
