Is it true that smoking ciggies has a relaxing effect; calms the nerves?
I essentially secondhand-smoked 12 ciggies today (see my "post your desktop!" thread for more... and it didn't help calm my nerves; my trembling arms problem still remained.

1. If you're a nicotine addict, yes.

4. conversely, not smoking cigarettes can make a nicotine addict rather
uhhh...anxious. Not to mention a raging pain in the ass to anyone around them.

I'm sick and can't smoke right now...well, I shouldn't anyway. I think I'm going to go chew my own arm off now.

2. For the most part
for me it does.

But sometimes when I smoke a ciggie, it makes me more anxious.

3. They can ground you albeit for a very short time.
And, without you getting any skills whatsoever unless you remember the sensations and remove the wired feeling they also give. Much easier and cleaner to just do grounding. :hi:

5. Yes and no
What happens is that nicotine withdrawal makes you jittery and so nicotine calms that down. It doesn't make you calmer, just the opposite.

But sometimes I really need a cig - I feel like I can't breathe without the smoke. Dumb, huh?

Lung cancer R me. Ah well.

Khash.
