4. Okay...
I don't really have many scanned at the moment (something I keep intending to get around to), but...here's a picture of my 4th great-grandmother (taken in 1860):

And here's a picture of her daughter, my 3rd great-grandaunt (at left) with her husband (the photographer Mathew Brady, who took the picture above), and a friend.

51. Which one would that be?
In the March/April issue of American Journalism Review there's a book review about him. The book is "Mencken The American Iconoclast" by Marion Elizabeth Rodgers. He was not so kind to his girlfriends and he wrote columns about those lynchings but the Baltimore Sun would not back down to the boycotters and let him continue.

9. Maternal great grandfather & sons; Mom & Dad in the 1950s
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 12:58 PM by HamdenRice
I have posted these elsewhere on DU in other threads, but here goes again:

The following pic is my great-grandfather with his three sons, taken probably around 1915-1920; my grandfather is second from right. This is actually a photo of a picture I took at my grandfather's house sometime in the early 1970s:

The next two pics are my parents on vacation in Virginia in the early to mid 1950s. My paternal grandparents lived in essentially a log cabin until the late 1950s. My mother is not actually shooting (this close to the house) but posing:

And this is my father:

My grandmother keeps promising to send them to me so I can scan them, but she's a bit... busy.

Here's my great-grandfather about a year ago, proudly showing off his new pajama pants:

He died in October, at age 92. In a lot of ways, he raised me, and was the prime male influence in my very early life. I credit him with my ability to have healthy relationships with men (because my relationship with my father was so very bad.)

On the other end of the scale, this is my niece, who will be two next month. This picture was taken in October, when we were all together for my great-grandfather's funeral. It was the only time I could get a picture of her -she's constantly in motion.
