5. We went to see an avian vet this afternoon.
Frodo has feather follicle cysts on both sides of her nose. It's nothing to worry about but I didn't know that until a few hours ago. I was so worried! I've been a bit of a bitch for the last week or so. She'll be okay. It won't need to be removed unless it becomes a problem to her. *whew*

17. I didn't tell anyone until yesterday. She has a boo-boo on her beak.
The vet loved her.
He said her behavior was amazing. He suggested that she should be around more strangers.

He said her weight was a perfect 1.0 kg.
He also thought her feathers were in excellent condition.

He wasn't too happy to hear that I'm planning a trip without her this summer.

36. At first I thought she was a he. I call her Frodie lots of times.
She is the sweetest bird. She loves physical attention.

My house mates will be here while I'm gone. She shouldn't miss me too much after the first few days. I do talk to her when I call home.

23. Thanks MadAsHellNewYorker!
It was wonderful that you came back to the room for a while after the meet-up.

Frodo gave a little bit of a scare with a boo-boo on her right seere. It turned out to be something simple. I worry about her too much, I probably would have been an overprotective mom.

56. I know you are right about that MadAsHellNewYorker!
I am a wonderful bird mom! She is nicely spoiled. Cooking for our parrots is about to change a little. The vet advised against feeding products containing yeast. He also said most parrots could benefit from more protein in their diet. It's back to my book on big macaws for suggestions and cautions.

It was great! Remember the mango margaritas are on me at the Gypsy Wolf. :loveya:

Macaws need moisture to help them preen their feathers.

31. Thanks to meeting all of you this past weekend I was pleasantly distracted.
Thank you for the complement.

When I first met Frodo I thought she was a he.
Then I had a DNA feather test done and found out he was a she. :silly:

I didn't want to change her name so it has become Miss Frodo at times.

12. I've been gone a few days and didn't know what you were talking about
at first, but I've read the thread and get the gist. Glad to know all's well with your beloved bird pet Frodo. Great name, btw!

I didn't know you were a bird afficianodo and the owner of a bird, as well.

Now this info puts that cool "bird goddess" pix of you, which you posted earlier, into better perspective! :)

Very Cool!

:hi: Good luck with everything!

32. I only mentioned it once or twice.
I've loved birds all my life. A few years ago I took a college course in museum bird identification, we also did field studies.
Did you know there are over 800 different varieties of birds that either migrate through or live in the USA?

:hi: Thanks. The best part is I won't need to worry about her while I'm traveling later this year.

55. I bet she is wonderful.
:loveya: We used to babysit a blue-fronted Amazon named Admiral Nelson. I remember one day coming home from work and just lying on the floor in front of his cage after I gave him a snack. All of a sudden, he stopped eating, cocked his head, and said, "Are you OK?" He lived on a sailboat, so he heard that a lot! Oh, and his people were trying to teach him manners, so they said, "Thank you!" every time they gave him something. I was eating a sandwich one day, and he quietly said, "Thank you." I kept eating and he said it a little louder. Finally, he yelled, "THANK YOU!" I guess he missed the "please" lesson. What fun he was! :loveya: Ah, pets. Gotta love 'em. :loveya:

I'm SO glad the good vibes were with you.

Lately, I've screwed up more than I have done good, messed up alot along the way. x(
