Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 07:05 PM by SoCalDem
The 1 million dollar PLUS 2003 Enzo Ferrari ended up cut in half, no injuries and the driver apparently fled.. his name is Dietrich..Have you seen a German with a bloody nose??

If so..call the cops

added link.... in next eply.. (It was on local TV and I had to find the website for the link)

A Rare Ferrari Is Totaled on PCH

The driver of the car is a mystery
MALIBU - The driver of a red Ferrari Enzo lost control of the exotic car at high speed this morning on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, and the vehicle disintegrated after striking a power pole.

The driver fled. His passenger suffered a cut lip. The car is estimated to have been worth up to one (m) million dollars.
The driver ran into the hills after the 6:15 a.m. crash and the passenger stayed behind. The engine was on the highway and the Ferrari wreckage was several hundred yards away in the west Malibu area near Decker Canyon.

Pacific Coast Highway was shut down for more than two hours.

Why else flee? And a real shame that there's one less Enzo in the world; though I understand they're typical Ferrari-uncomfortable to drive, it's still a nice piece of engineering he smashed up.

on edit: Thanks much for the link to the video story. So, the owner/driver lied to the cops, eh? Well, poor fucker. He's out quite a bit of dosh, and who'll insure him again? Lucky boy California lets you put up a bond in lieu of insurnace...

4. The passenger was the owner, but "the German" was driving.
The passenger/owner was drunk, and he mostly knows Dietrich as "The German"..doesn;t even know his last name ..

Musta been some party, eh?

5. The Merc owner was pretty ballsy, I'll give him/her that
Musta modded the Merc - or maybe it was just them being liquored up... I wouldn't race an Enzo in my SLK unless I had a trick up my sleeve...

6. Some miscellaneous Enzo tidbits.
A simple oil change for the Enzo will run you $800 (no $30 Jiffy Lube specials for this baby) and a complete brake job will be $100,000.

Yes, you read that right.

Add in the fact that insurance on an Enzo comes in at approximately $24,000 per year and you begin to see why so many of them have sadly been retired to be garage queens

8. Yes, but carbon fibre brake kits are intended to last just as long
as the car. You shouldn't need a new brake kit unless you spend hours and hours on the track.

Still, that's more for a brake kit than I'd pay for a car. I could get a Mint Toyota Supra that's been boosted up to 1000+ horses for about 80/90 grand

9. Yep, people who wanted an Enzo wanted to make a statement,
one of the (now former)Detroit Red Wings got one a few years back. He actually had to apply for ownership, and a requirement to be considered was past ownership of another Ferarri.

He wrecked it about 3 months later.

I would just as soon build my own ride that could smoke any Ferrari.

15. you can pickup a used ZO6 Corvette for around 30k
And it will match almost anything out (cars costing 5 times as much) there performancewise.

11. It seems to be a PCH thing
I was in Malibu last year, on the beach watching the surfers one Sunday afternoon and there was a race going on between 2 Ferraris going at maniac speeds dodging in and out of the regular traffic. It's a wonder there aren't major pile-ups every weekend.

12. i sat in an ENZO once
Some rich guy showed up with one at a car show. He let some of us sit in it and took a few guys I know for a ride. They were awestruck by its performance (and these are car guys).

Its not exactly a luxury car! lol
