So the packers came by yesterday...
3 women, did a superb job. Everything not furniture is now boxed up.

Today the movers are due...any minute now...to pack up the furniture and crate everything & haul it away to storage for at least a year.

And on SUNDAY me & kitty pile into the car and begin our Great Adventure, making sure we take a left at Albuquerque and a right at California as we head on up to VANCOUVER CANADA! :D

:) :) :)

4. Backstory; lived decade+ in Europe, then 7 years in Texas,
and now hubby is re-deploying to the ME (his retirement has twice been cancelled due to bush's "backdoor draft") and I have had enough...so on Sunday me & kitty pile into my car and we're driving up to Vancouver (I was born there & have Cdn citizenship) to live permanently.

Don't have any job yet (I'm an accountant, s/be able to find something, but if I gotta sling hash(browns) at a McD's, I will!) but do have an apartment.

Don't know a soul in the entire province, but I will!

LOOK OUT VAN, I AM COMING HOME!!!

PAHTY!!!

3. Thanks!
Well, you gotta have a safe house, right? And a safe house in the city voted "most beautiful" and "highest standard of living" in the world, on the ocean, with mountains in the backyard, with gorgeous year-round weather, is a good thang, right? :D

He was supposed to retire in 2004, got "backdoor drafted". Was supposed to retire in 2005; got "backdoor drafted".

Now he's stuck until June 30, 2007.

I despise the bush regime.

Ta very much for the positive thoughts & prayers!

So sorry your husband is redeployed but glad you'll have this excellant adventure.

Will you still be the voice of truth and conscience on DU or will you be less interested in things american or will you perhaps just see how you feel. . .

12. I can't leave my DU pals behind!
Besides, I'll be damn lonely for awhile, until I get to meet a few people in Vancouver and make some friends, so no way am I gonna ditch my DU friends.

When the bush regime are rotting in jail, and America gets onto a rational sane track, then I'll just drop in to DU for a spot o' tea now & then. :)

16. Oh and I've never heard
anyone from Vancouver complain about anything aside from droves of Chinese immigrants but that can't be all that rough.

Everyone always sings the praises of quality of life there.

But once your settled if you want a laundry list of really affordable & effective Oriental Botanical over the counter cures with no side effects for stuff like colds, flues, back pain, tooth aches, bruising . . .etc, then PM me. One of my dearest friends is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and he informed me of this stuff and I've used 'em for years.

Glad you'll still be posting.

Travel safely and don't forget to bring good tunes as radio reception is somewhat dicey in parts of the west.

It's the little things isn't it?

How are you gonna deal with kitty in the car and on the road though?

Have only ever flown once with a cat.

Though I have a friend who drove across the country well over a decade ago with two goats in a Volvo that was manufactured in the early 60's.

Ahhhhh the goats devoured the upholstery. It was stuffed with straw.

Too funny. Hope your kitty is more placid and less ravenous.

Would love to see picts of your adventure. I've been eastwardly locked for far too long.

28. Kitty has a very large carrier to sprawl out in, on the backseat.
We'll stop for lunch at roadside rest areas, and he can come out of his carrier and do his litterbox duties, and depending on the rest area & number of people around, he can put on his harness and have a stroll.

Then evenings he can run around the hotel room and check everything out.

:D

He's a very good traveller, usually just snoozes the day away in his carrier before & after lunchbreak.

TWO GOATS IN a VOLVO???!!

Oh my...! :wow: That's hilarious!

Won't have pics, tho I will have the digicam with me, but I dunno how to use it. :D
