Could I please have some good vibes, prayers, happy thoughts, etc.?
We buried our St. Joseph statue last night. That's supposed to help sell a house. And someone just came to look at our house today. Her realtor told my realtor that she loves it. She's looking at a few more before she decides. It would be great if we got an offer today.

Thanks in advance. :grouphug:

9. Hey, billyskank!
Thanks! That's what St. Joseph is for ... he's the Patron Saint of Home, Family and Workers. Burying him in the front yard and asking him to assist with the sale of your home is supposed to help it sell faster. I never heard of it until last week, but it's a great tradition. :)

be sure to dig it back up and put the statue in your new home -- if you believe in that sort of thing.

18. Where?
I saw a TV program, something like "House Flip", on Discover. They buy trashed houses, fix them up, and then sell them. They were paying $300,000-$500,000 for 2-bedroom, 1-bath houses that were just horrible. Sure, they fixed them up, but then they added another $100,000-$200,000 to the price tag. That was a big OMG! Talk about spending your life in debt.

My realtor says it's done a lot and it works. But we hadn't ever heard of it and I discovered it by accident over the internet. I asked the realtor why he didn't tell us about that and he said the market was so hot for a few years that they didn't need St. Joseph. So, he forgot to mention it.

How long did it take you to bury St. Joseph? When my sister in law sold her house they spent 2 hours just trying to figure out whether to bury him upside down, right side up, facing toward or facing away from the house. ;)

Just don't forget to dig him up when you sell it! My sister in law forgot and had to go back.

Best of luck!

It only took a few minutes. He came with instructions ... dig a hole 6" deep in the front yard, put him in head first, facing the street, say the words they give you and some extra ones (harleydad was GREAT at that part), and cover him up. I got kind of weepy when harleydad said his thing. (I'm a sap!)

We WILL remember to dig him up! It would be a LONG drive if we had to come back to get him!

Thanks, MrsG, for taking the time to wish me best of luck while you're going through all that @#$*! So kind of you! :loveya:

46. Anytime AirmensMom!!
:hi:

The first house I had sold in 1 day. Of course that was in a fast-growing area of the state (Iowa City) where people are moving in. The next one was the real challenge. Marshalltown didn't and still doesn't have the growth potential of IC, hence the pool of prospective buyers was a great deal less.
We really put in some sweat equity to make the house ready for sale. But after what seemed like forever it sold. More good vibes for you.

I thought only my daughter had luck like that. She sold her house in the FL panhandle, after Hurricane Ivan, in 25 hours. The last one we sold had to be turned over to the relocation. Too many houses on the market and no one moving in. That scared us.

It's great to get all these good vibes. Thanks again! :hi:
