What Singer Will ALWAYS Make You Change Radio Stations?
... or better yet... turn it completely off (*CLICK!*) just so you won't have to hear them?

Mine: Michael Bolton, Rod Stewart.

142. Aimless noodling
DMB is so severely self-conscious, that they are the sonic equivalent of masturbation, except that masturbation should never be so boring as to put one to sleep (until AFTER it's over, anyway). If they have any talent, it's lost in the meandering wankathon of noodles they excrete. And the lyrics are even dumber than Trent Reznor's, which is no small feat.

71. I saw her when she first came to Houston....
She did a set at the Old Quarter. I was impressed by her strong voice & wondered what she'd sound like if she ever learned to hit the right notes. She lived in Houston for a while & worked on the singer/songwriter lifestyle. Yup, she'd been doin' some hard travelin'....

Eventually she got famous. But she's still bit tone deaf.

I never liked Queen even in the 70's, and liked them even less in the 80's for violating the anti-apartheid boycott and playing in Sun City in South Africa in deliberate defiance of the rest of the music community. Besides being boring, pompous, and unbearably pretentious, they were apologists for racism and right-wing politics. 'We Will Rock You' even has a fascist aura about it. Like a Nazi-Neocon-GOP Youth Rally on steroids.

but not a great Rod Stewart fan. Hubby hates anything disco. I'm not into contemporary country, but do like the Dixie Chicks. Don't like the generic boy and girl singing groups--most start sounding the same. Love Robbie Robinson; JoAnn Shenandoah; U2; Led Zeppelin; Buffalo Springfield; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Celtic music; Mozart and Bach and many others--just no Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears and anyone sounding like them, or cry in your beer country songs.

12. There's this one track: Tiesto - "Adaigo for Strings"
This is a dance music/classical music mix up. It IMO doesn't work well, and I will change the station when it comes on.

The other thing that will make me change stations (but it's not a song) is that bloody annoying commercial for the Doctors' Night Guard - where you hear the teeth grinding sound.

Woe betide me if I flip from XM 81 to XM 167 to escape from that song to get teeth grinding.

All I need to hear is the opening bars of "start me up" and it is time for a new radio station. But there are a couple Stones songs I can listen to, like "You can't always get what you want." but 99.5% of the time I will not tolerate the Stones, but I feel the same way about Led Zeppelin too, and Rod Stewart.

To be honest though, most of the crap that comes on the radio drives me insane. My roommate insists on listening to the local classic rock station constantly. It's horrible. Occasionally they'll play something by The Clash or something, but 99% of the time I end up wanting to stab my eardrums.

Most of the time, that craptastic whiny bleating is confined to the country-and-western stations. But some fool of a no-talent, tonedeaf assclown decided it was "crossover" material and started playing in on pop stations. With the exeption of "My Heart Will Go On". I can deal with that one song--any other C.D. will automatically get turned off. :puke:

Are you kidding? She is friggin awesome. A true master of the blues. Have you heard any of her early stuff?

I am with you on Alicia Keyes though. My son loves her - we argue about her all the time.

My Mom loved to listed to his albums so heard them a lot and I've always kinda liked his music.

Don't tell anyone, but I have some MP3s of some of his songs on my computer. I put on my headphones hear at work and listen to him occasionally without my coworkers knowing.

also any female singer who sounds like a male.

Examples of guys, Michealla, errr excuse me I mean Michael Jackson, The BeeGees or their late brother Andrea errr sorry I meant Andy, and some of the fifties teen idols.

Example of Female- Kim Carnes, other names escape me at the moment. I just remember a fellow admission attendant at the Park where I worked as a teen and I used to race each other to the radio to see who could turn it the fastest whenever "Betty Davis Eyes" came on. I use to think jeese Kim, why don't you just barf and get whatever it is that is stuck in both your throat and gut out already? It sounds really, really, painful both to you and to me.

I don't know why this particular brand of artisans bothers me they just do.

Also I know Springsteen has a lot of fans, and he has written about some pretty good strong liberal issues, but it always sounded to me more like he was screaming at the top of his lungs verses actually singing or carrying anything even remotely resembling a tune. Thus making his attempts at vocal stylings very obnoxious and hurtful to my ears. I give him he was very good at writing lyrics he just should have left the singing of them to some one else. The only one I could actually stand to listen to for more than a few minutes was "Dancing In the Dark," because he actually came very close to a tune on that one.
