For the time being I can travel to the States without a visa under the "Visa Waiver Programme," because I have a "machine-readable" passport. After October 26 2006 the Visa Waiver Programme will end, and to visit the United States I will need to get a passport with my biometric information on it! (Or pay for a visa).
My thanks to the office of Homeland Security. :grr:
Just out of interest, I checked the website of the British Embassy in the United States to see if a US national needs a visa to visit my country. No, you do not. So much for the "special relationship," huh?

7. But remember billy - it gets us "influence" with the U.S. |
|
We turn ourselves into a vassal state - send our sons to fight and die in their wars - extradite our citizens at the drop of a hat (for actions which had nothing to do with the U.S.) - swallow whatever visa restrictions they want - all without the slightest notion of reciprocity.
This gets us "influence" - which contrary to the common meaning of the English language, actually just means that Tony Blair gets a very good retirement income from the U.S. lecture circuit.
Were you planning to visit the U.S.?

10. Not to mention a seat on the board of the Carlyle Group |
|
Yes, I am planning to visit there. I'd better do it fast before I am required to submit my DNA to MI6's database... :(

It is only after "meeting" DU's wonderful Brits that I (a fearful plane passenger) have actually tried to talk to MrG about sometime flying (:scared:) over.
