Grrrrr....Irritation...Be a good mom, MrsGrumpy.
I love my son, I love him, love him, love him. Currently, he is driving me bonkers. He's been off all week. Interspersed with our little jaunts here and there to do fun things (the movies) and not so fun things (the grocery store...man I miss how much he makes me laugh at the grocery store) he's been playing video games.

I hate video games and it is a bone of contention between his father and I. His father loves video games. I digress. He has been playing "King Kong"...and getting irritated and yelling about it. Getting generally crazy upset. It drives me up a tree. And why do 7 year olds always have to make what I call "shooting noises"? Pitoo! Pitoo! Pish! Pish! Bap! Bap! Bap! It's annoying as hell.

Someone help me before I pull my hair out....

1. You love your son, you love your son, you love your son.
:banghead: I don't HATE video games, but I do hate when people play them all the time. Both of my sons-in-law do that and now my 4-year-old grandson is getting hooked. :scared:

I'm sorry, MrsG! Hey, maybe if Dad isn't home, you can just accidentally pull the plug (or trip the breaker)!

 to you.

2. Hey! Thanks! I just hate that he gets so "owned" by them...for lack
of a better word.

Any word on the house? I hope today is the day!

4. That's a perfect word.
I hate it, too. My daughters used to read all the time. Now they spend every free minute in front of the video games. My grandson's mother has less time, of course, so she does less of it. The other one it totally "owned" by them. She thinks I should buy a game cube. :scared:

No more word yet from that buyer. But someone else responded to the postcard that the realtor sent out ... they want a relative to take a look. They know the house and live in the neighborhood. Cool! And someone else is coming over this afternoon. I'm so hating how this whole thing makes me feel.

6. Nothing is more nerve wracking then selling a house.
I am dragging my feet on getting ours up to speed for listing. In a few months this will all be a memory! :hi:

9. Did you find another one yet?
I hope you're right about it being a memory ... but impatient me wants it to be in a few weeks. ;)

16. I understand completely!
We went through something similar last time. Fell in LOVE with a place -- more the land than the house. And harleydad loved the garage with work space. But the financing fell through b/c we didn't have a big enough downpayment. We were SO bummed. Then we found another place ... smaller yard, but nice house. It was a 40-year-old fixer-upper. It had chestnut woodwork and oak floors throughout and lots of character. We fell in love as soon as we walked through the front door, even with the woodwork all painted and the stair carpeting all worn. Then we wondered why we liked the first one so much.

You'll find one, don't worry.

3. You know MrsGrumpy, you have really reinforced my wife's and my...
...decision NOT to have kids. I'm really feeling good about my vasectomy right now...

I know you love your little boy, and am chiding you. But I am glad I don't have those "problems"...:P

Life is soooo much easier!

;) He's a great kid...when he's not playing King Kong. His time limit is almost up and I'll be better then. :hi: Check your PM.

10. They are fun.
But I don't like it when they take over. That makes me like them a lot less.

11. I am okay with the video game. It's the person he becomes while
playing it. Like right now...he's muttering and clicking...the FATE
OF THE WORLD rests on him making it to the next level. :hi:

15. This is what he tells me.
His favorites right now are...King Kong, Ace Combat 5, and Call of Duty. He cycles through them depending on which one has p*ssed him off. He's becoming quite the little pilot, having worked his way through Ace Combat 4. Mama, on the other hand, is tired of hearing, "Mobius One, can you read me?" Or "Take out that pillbox!!" or "Jack, Kong's coming on the left!"

Oooh, that last one sounded bad, didn't it? ;)

18. My boyfriend's nephew
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 09:37 AM by bigwillq
(who he has custody of) is obsessed with video games too and he makes all those same noises. I think his nephew is nine.
But last night, the newphew wasn't behaving and my man took all the video games away and made him read.

Seriously all this kid does is play video games. Go outside and run around damnit! read a book, draw a picture, play with your big wheels but please no more video games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does your son do more than play video games???

Calgon, take Mrs. Grumpy away! :P :)

19. Yes. He enjoys reading and drawing and playing outdoors.
:hi: He does a lot more, he's just hooked on this game today. I made him stop quite a while ago. I put limits on the gaming here...even for MrG. Currently, we are about halfway through the book Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. His favorite thing to do is read chapter books with me.

20. Well that's good.
It's good to see that your boy is more active.
I never, ever played video games when I was young.
We were always outside playing sports, or building forts or just running around the neighborhood until the street lights came on and mama called us in for dinner.

I just don't get kids these days I guess and their obsession with video games.
