"Welcome to my secret lair on Skullcrusher Mountain..."
Oh man is this song funny! Anyone else recently discover the goofy geeky goodness of Jonathan Coulton??

Download it free here! http://www.jonathancoulton.com/lyrics/skullcrusher-mountain

3. I'm not sure what my favorite part is...
I made this half-pony half-monkey monster to please you
But I get the feeling that you don’t like it
What’s with all the screaming?
You like monkeys, you like ponies
Maybe you don’t like monsters so much
Maybe I used too many monkeys
Isn’t it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

or

You know it isn’t easy living here on Skullcrusher Mountain
Maybe you could cut me just a little slack
Would it kill you to be civil?
I’ve been patient, I’ve been gracious
And this mountain is covered with wolves
Hear them howling, my hungry children
Maybe you should stay and have another drink and think about me and you

5. Why do you think nobody else seems to like the song?
It's brilliant, and yet apparently nobody else seems to have listened to it. Why is that you think?

8. You should lock this thread!
Make it controversial...Keep posting new threads complaining about what's wrong with the song that the thread keeps being locked, and then lock it...That'll get their attention!

12. Coulton's great! I discovered him about a month ago when I found his cover
of "Baby Got Back".

I don't think it's on his site, but he also provides the backing for John Hodgeman's reading of his 700 hobo names which is both hilarious and one hell of an endurance task for all involved.

14. at what institution did he record that?
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 02:14 PM by tigereye
No, it was very clever, I expected a metal-type screamer, though, not a guy who sounds like he sings somewhat disturbing country-folk flavored kids songs. :D

17. I have heard songs that were close to that type of persepctive
but that one is unique.

I couldn't hear all the background stuff.... I assume it was those he had lured to his lair....

:hi:

25. my son has become addicted to football
it was pretty weird to see that, esp. with the Steelers in the Super Bowl.

Wow. Don't kids grow quickly? Mine will be 10 in two months, and it doesn't seem that long since he was walking and then going to school!

16. Yeah I thought it would be heavy metal as well...sooo funny that it's not
I think people saw the title and maybe thought it was some lame metal band and ignored it, when actually it's just pure genius and hilarious.

I was laughing about this the whole way home yesterday and then I was singing it to the baby. She laughed as much as I did.

33. Mine did too
I had her on my lap singing

"I made this half monkey half pony monster to please you!"

and she was laughing. I don't think she really understood what I was saying because she's only 16 months old, but she was definately enjoying it. :)
