Poll question: Tattoos?
Inquiring minds want to know what you think!

5. I'm one of the few bikers who've ridden for years, and...
yet I'm tattooless. I've never wanted the extra identifying marks for one thing. I'm neutral about tattoos on other men, but I don't like them on women. I feel the natural look of a woman is art, and should not be altered.

12. It is an individual decision.
I was 50 before I got my first. They are all easily covered by normal clothing if I don't want them to show.

My tats are in locations for me to view and enjoy, not to please others.

13. Two of my exes have had them, and they liked them.
As you say it's a personal thing. I do feel no one should get one unless they're an adult. An artist put one on my exe's Niece when she was 15. I made sure he regretted it.

3. People should adorn their bodies they way they want to
I'm okay w/ tattoos, in fact, I have one. It's not likely that very many people will ever see it.

I'm not saying I like all tattoos. I have seen some that I find down-right distasteful, but when push comes to shove, it's all about feeling good about yourself.

4. All of the above
I have a huge "trashy" one on my back and one simple one on my arm that I've dropped about grand on trying to remove. Adornment of the body has been around for ages. It's a funny thing about aesthetics. I say to each his or her own.

21. An unfinished Phoenix
It starts at the hip, sprawls across the lower back and when finished will cover half my back. When I got into acting, I stopped working on it. Directors and costumer designers HATE tattoos especially on women. I'll get it finished one day, I'm not in any hurry.

26. That's funny
And a coincidence to boot. With the two years Michael and I have endured, we've been researching designs for matching phoenix tattoos, mostly as a metaphor for our ability to rise from the ashes of pretty much any disaster that gets thrown at us.

Being a perfomer rather than an actor, I've chosen not to care what agents, casting directors, et al think about my body. ;-)

:hi: Right back atcha!

30. It's a beautiful metaphor, isn't it?
I got mine as a present to myself after I celebrated a year clean from being out of a very toxic relationship. It was the last time I was ever going to let somebody keep me down. It's a reminder that no matter what I pain I've gone through in my life I can always rise up out of it to reinvent. The only life you have is your own.

And with your set of pipes, you could slather yourself in poop and I bet you'd still get work.

Plus the whole babe factor you got going on I'm sure doesn't hurt either.

7. Depends on the art and the placement...
And even then, not everyone is going to agree what constitutes worthy art and good placement.

That said, I cannot wait to have the spare money to get some tattoos.

47. Hehe..
... I have a couple of tattoos. I designed both of them, thought a long time before getting them, and will never understand how anyone could walk into a tattoo parlor and pick some stock art.

I especially don't understand anyone who would put a Warner Brothers cartoon character on their body permanently. But that's just me :)

15. I've got one..
I say to each their own. Getting what everyone else has is dumb, but if it actually has meaning, or you design it yourself, then awesome! I think tattoos are beautiful, many of them have interesting stories or can be a conversation starter.
I plan to get another one, to honor my brother, cousin, and dad- all deceased. After that, I don't know.

22. There was an article in the Post by a doctor who removes him
He removes them by laser treatments, and had a great business. It takes a number of laser treatments to accomplish this.

The cost differential: It costs approximately 10 times the amount of money to remove them as it did to get the tattoo in the first place. This doctor has struck a goldmine, and knows it.

25. Other:
Mine is stunning! All others are open to debate ;-) Seriously, though, who cares?! The only thing I ever caution folks on when I get asked about the subject is that if you're going to get a lot of black-work done, think about the spread, fade and blend that will happen in a few (short) decades.

28. I have six
My favorite one is a tarantula drawing I did myself that rests over my left shoulder.

Most people don't put any thought into them and only get them because it "looks cool" on them. I particularly dislike a lot of lower back tattoos on girls and the tired tribal arm band on guys. I doubt I'll ever have the money and patience to get a full arm done. The only one that hurt a but was a big one across my vertebrae. I was sweating when that was getting done.

55. It was my first tattoo. A purple iris on my leg.
It healed, but very slowly and even now it will get a little raised and irritated, but it still looks good.

The second tattoo I got, is a bracelet on my wrist and nothing with any red in it. No problems with that one.

I've never regretted it and would like to have it touched up here soon. I was considering adding more to it as well.

I put quite a bit of thought into it beforehand and searched around different studios until I found one I was comfortable with.

33. I always said I don't have any, but..
I've had one since I was three years old and had forgotten about it. My brother hit me in the head with a brick, when I ran screaming into the house, my Grandmother scooped up a handfull of soot from the wood stove slapped it on my head to stop the bleeding.
So, I've had a small blue line on the left side of my forehead for 45 years.

38. I have a couple
A pentagram on the inside of my right thigh. I want to add to it. The words "All acts of love and pleasure are my rituals"
A small dragon beside my left nipple - my exwife did it and has a matching one.

If they are done well, I find them extremely sexy. And also sometimes very moving - a man I met who had his dead son's face inscribed on his back. It was incredible - he turned his body into a monument for the son he loved but lost.

Khash.
