Does anyone here own a Hymnal?
I have one that I "borrowed" from my local UU church. It should bother me, but 'Thou shalt not steal' is only one of the Ten Suggestions, so I'm still okay with the Goddess.

1. Hymnals and Bibles
My take has always been that if someone steals a Bible or Hymnal they probably need it. However, since you posted this I wonder if it does bother you a bit and perhaps you would like to actually buy that hymnal. If the congregation won't sell it to you I imagine you can find a copy online somewhere.

5. At least 10.
I used to play piano for the churches we attended, so they always gave me one. :hi:

7. I did as a kid too
and played duets with my mom in church.

But I haven't touched a piano for at least 15 years now. I still have a couple of old hymnals though.

8. 4 hands on one piano or 2 pianos or piano/organ?
I played piano/organ duets with the organist at my last church ... not from the hymnal, though. They were WAY fun and sounded great. I sure miss that! And I've played 4 hands with harleydad for fun. And it is fun, isn't it?

I have my Mom's 100-year-old baby grand, so I still play some. :hi:

11. 4 hands one piano
Not from the hymnal either, but I can't remember what we used to play. I was like 10 at the time.

Daisy has taken up mandolin in the past couple of months. I'm thinking of getting a cheap keyboard so I can at least plunk out a bassline along with her.

9. I have an old Lutheran (red) hymnal
There was a pile of them in Dwight Chapel at Yale, and I happened to wander through when the Episcopal and Lutheran chaplains were cleaning out a storage closet.

The Lutherans did folk masses exclusively, so they didn't use the hymnals, which were about to be replaced anyway, so I asked if I could have one. :-)

10. We've got the Episcopal 1982 hymnal, The Abingdon Hymnal
and another hymnal. The Episcopal one was lent to us but we never gave it back. Again, if you need it, why not keep it? If it continues to bother you, ask your UU pastor if you can have it or borrow it.

Peace.

13. I have one from my old church. When they were replaced with new editions
they let people take the old ones if they wanted. I can't remember if we could just have them or if we donated to get one or what. I was just a kid when the old ones got replaced so I don't remember all that well.

16. I have a bunch of them
I intended to use them for beginning piano lessons. They are old ones without spines that some church threw out when they got worn out.

18. English Hymnal (full music)
New English Hymnal (words)
Hymns Ancient and Modern, New Standard (full music - borrowed from church legitimately as I sometime play the organ there)
English Catholic Hymnbook (was only ever produced as words only)
Hymns Ancient and Modern, Revised (words, bound together with the Book of Common Prayer).

That's all from memory.

21. I have a couple copies of the Lutheran Book of Worship (green book)
They belonged to my parents, who had purchased them legitimately. I know this because they are soft cover, while pew editions are hard cover, and their names are engraved into the thin leather covers
