HELP! Adhesive Tape Rash!!1 |
|
I wore a Holter monitor for 24 hours ending today, and now I have 5 blistery, circular welts where the electrode pads were. They're not especially itchy, but they are sore and are ugly as hell. Any remedies to make them go away? Two of them show with a modest neckline, and I have a cute new blouse with an immodest neckline I want to wear this weekend!

1. Cortisone cream or ointment? |
|
Wish I could be of more help, but I still can see the spots where they accidentally left the electrode pad on me after my back surgery, and that was at the end of December! I didn't notice it until 24 hours later, when I was finally allowed to take a shower. Since I wasn't going anywhere, I didn't bother to do anything about it and now I regret it. There's still a faint pink circular outline that is taking forever to fade. :-(
Good luck with yours.
Hey, on second thought, what about colloidal oatmeal?

3. Turns Out It's a Full-Blown Allergic Reaction |
|
I hate it that I'm such a delicate little flower. Epinephrine was the immediate answer followed by hydroxyzine and cortisone.

4. My wife is a nurse, and said you may be latex sensitive.... |

...she is to, and can't wear things like normal band-aids. In the future, she said to be sure and mention you are latex sensitive, and they may have something else to use for you.

6. I'm Fine With Latex; Just Allergic To Adhesives |
|
I have an EpiPen and I'm okay(er) now. Thanks! Never had a reaction this bad, but I've never left any on that long. Thought it was just a cosmetic annoyance! Any bandage or tape, no matter how "hypoallergenic," leaves a welt - these were just very large, a whole lot of them, and left on for 27 hours.

5. Same thing happens to me |
|
I'm not allergic to latex, I have a reaction to the adhesives. Use benedryl cream or any other hydrocortizone (sp?) cream for a few days. The welts will eventually go down. If they've blistered, keep them covered.
