A song for all the women of the Lounge:
Girls Just Want to Have Fun

I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells what you gonna do with your life
Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one
But girls they want to have fun
Oh girls they want to have--

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls--they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have

Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls--they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun,
They want to have fun,
They want to have fun...

Girls of the Lounge, you have brought so much fun to my life!!! Thank you! :loveya:

4. Joani baby!!!
I am so looking forward to your trip out West this summer. I have a guest room that you are most welcome to when you hit town, if you are so inclined.

5. Thank you for the offer. I've decided to drive this year.
Maybe next year I'll be up for the trike trip.
My trip to NYC showed me that I still need too much stuff to do this trip without a trailer until I can learn to travel with less.

I plan to stay in motels for most of my trip. After so much quite time on the road I'm not sure how sociable I'll be feeling. We'll talk.

6. Whatever you feel like doing is fine, Joani
There are several hotels not far from me, so if that works best for you, that's cool. I'd probably be pretty damned tired after traveling all the way across the US too!

17. Well, yes and no
I was not very motivated earlier in the week, and since I get paid by the billable hour, I have some time to make up! But I work from home, so it's not bad having to work over the weekend.

No plans really, but sometimes a no-plans weekend is just the ticket!

21. That sounds nice enough. I'm going out with an old friend tomorrow night.
So my weekend won't totally suck. The secondary highlight would be sleeping in, if that happens.

29. A near-all nighter.
Wasn't my intention. I occasionally have insomnia, and this was one of those nights!

But, I admit, I AM crazy! I can't help it; I was drawn that way!

36. Aw, the crazy folks are my favorite kind, and sleep is overrated, anyway.
I remember after my first son was born- we lived in Minneapolis and I had NO friends- I hadn't met anyone, and I felt like I was a total alien. I would drive around and think that there was the rest of the world...and there was me. I had no idea how many quirky, like-minded individuals there were hiding behind apartment doors and service counters.

DU is a treasure-trove of fabulous characters, hence it's addictive nature!

39. Yes!
On an odd side-note, right now I've a burning desire to go jogging. But it's snowing and ten degrees, and the stroller won't plow through snow. Damn, I'm antsy.

28. the gulf coast side
Ft. Myers, Punta Gorda, Tampa Bay and Sarasota. It is beautiful and the color of the water is very nice. It is different than the Atlantic Coast side. We always summered at Panama City when I was a child...so maybe I am biased but, I just love the gulf coast.

20. Mine too! And I got to hear her sing it live!!!!
She was here in Seattle on tour with Cher, and I swear, that itty bitty gal with the huge voice brought the house down. Every woman in the Key Arena was on their feet, singing along to that song. It still gives me goosebumps to think about it!

If you have never seen Cyndi live, and get a chance to, run, don't walk, and get a ticket!

So nice to see you! Seems we've been missing each other over the past couple of days. :loveya:  :loveya:

I got to see Cyndi live, when she was here a couple of years ago with Cher. Love both of them, but I'll tell you, Cyndi tore the roof off the place with that voice of hers! As I said in my post to MrsGrumpy, when Cyndi sang "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", every single female in the place was on her feet, singing and dancing! It was a fantastic experience!
