What does the '(snip)' between some paragraphs in quoted articles mean?

And what is 'streaming'?

1. snip means some text was left out of the quote
and you can go to the original article to find out more. Its usually good form to cut and paste only the more pertinent paragraphs from an article, and encourage the reader to go to the original for the entire story.
