A week ago, I was discussing music with a friend of mine. She said she liked this band, I said I liked another. Well, this other band was The Caesars. We kept chatting.

All the while, one of the other students kept saying this "Your band sucks."

"I really like the rhythm in this song, and the ba-"

"Your band sucks."

"Yes, that song is interesting, but it could of been better if they put in a riff here and maybe th-"

"Your band sucks"

Continue for three minutes.

At last. I turned on this girl and yelled "WOULD YOU SHUT THE EFF UP?! I'M TRYING TO HAVE A CIVILIZED CONVERSATION WITH MY FRIEND!!!!"

"Well," She says, "I was just offering my opinion."

"Opinion noted, but when I want your media-influenced mouth in my conversation, I'll ask!"

I turned back to my friend and the conversation continued.

"You don't have to bite my ****ing head off just because I don't like your ****ing band. God ****ing damn."

Then she emails me today saying I was overreacting and I'm a bitch and whatnot.

Was I overreacting?

1. I don't think so...

For one thing, it wasn't that person's conversation. For another thing, when discussing music- actually talking about the rhythm and the riffs and whatnot, I don't think "Your band sucks" qualifies as a serious opinion. Especially when repeated over and over.
