Olympics Rant - Figure Skating Fan Rant

I'm watching the figure skating and they are doing the show they do after the metals. The skating is so much better! More artful and just better! The Russian woman who was so nervous, she probably missed the gold because of it skated so beautifully it touched my heart. And the Ice Dancers really cut loose. I mean, is Ice Dancing really a sport, or like ballet, just a very athletic art?

I'm really wondering if the Olympics diminish figure skating as much as they promote it, and are bouyed by its fans.

I mean placing a jump in the first 2 minutes of a program, is that really important to this art/sport?
