5. And, like Katarina Witt, she also posed in Playboy
representing all the B-cup girls as she put it.

Lyta: Sorry to bother you, I know it's late.
Ivanova: No, it's all right, I wasn't sleeping. I haven't slept since... Can I get you something?
Lyta: No, thank you.
Ivanova: Then if you don't mind... Have you ever heard of the hour of the wolf?
Lyta : No.
Ivanova: My father told me about it. It's the time between three and four in the morning. You can't sleep, and all you can see is the troubles and the problems and the ways that your life should've gone but didn't. All you can hear is the sound of your own heart. I've been living in the hour of the wolf for seven days, Lyta. Seven days. The wolf and I are now on a first-name basis. Ah, please. In times like this, my father used to take one large glass of vodka before bed. To keep the wolf away, he said. And then he would take three very small drinks of vodka, just in case she had cubs while she was waiting outside. It doesn't work.

6. The show had its uses
but I preferred Deep Space 9 ultimately. Too many "crazies" associated with B5 for me.

8. Yes!
The James Bond episodes with Julian were quite a lot of fun. Siddig actually is in Syriana, though I don't know if he's a good or bad guy since I haven't seen it yet. I especially liked the buddy chemistry between Sid and Colm Meaney. That was hysterical at times.

My favorite character I think, though, was Quark. The Ferengi were really fleshed out in DS9, and were, if nothing else, interesting enough to focus on them in different episodes. Overall, they have to be one of the best civilizations in the Trek Universe.

9. Quark was one of those characters that helped to add chemistry...
...to the show. He was great. I think my favorite characters were the Sisko, and Garak. Of course there were a lot of "characters" who made that show. Hell, I loved Gul Dukat. Every show needs a good villain!

10. I loved the one episode I saw...
...with Michael York arriving with a King Arthur delusion. That was awesomely good.

A drunken G'Kar (I think?) hooks up with him on his quixotic quest, and it's beautiful, especially the "He has one!" line. The revelation at the end of the show was incredible.

12. Well, so far I've done little...
...beyond the hundred-mile round-trip to get a kitty. After she's lived a long and happy life with us, then we'll have done a good thing.

My work is just beginning. :)

15. Well, you picked a good one
Here is what the producer/writer (JMS) had to say about York:

* Michael York is currently shooting with us in "A Late Delivery From Avalon," and doing an amazing job. This may turn into one of our best episodes, from a performance and emotion perspective. I had a few doubts about the script -- it has a kind of writing style I don't use very often, and very stylized in appearance -- but it's coming out great.

* York finished with us quite some time ago. Great episode, and a nice man. Very friendly, very polite, nothing of the "I'm a STAR" attitude one often gets with...well, *stars*. He was even very nice when I gleepily asked him to sign my laserdisk of CABARET.

* York's a major film actor who's starred in many films, including one of my personal favorites, "Cabaret." Also in the "Logan's Run" movie.

* If you've got someone new to the show, who might not know the backstory very well, then probably the Michael York episode, "A Late Delivery From Avalon" would be a good one.

14. You can get it on DVD for $80/season
It is still on my list to get Seasons 2-4. Seasons 1 and 5 I might get though needed for the long term story arc were on the weak side.

16. Seasons 3 & 4 arriving Monday
My birthday present to myself. I've already got the first episode.

To me, it's political theatre, not science fiction.

19. Seasons 2-4 was the meat of the story
Things didn't really get rolling until the second season and there was doubt whether there would even be a fifth season so JMS was forced to finish the main arc by the end of the fourth.

First and fifth seasons have a lot of stand alone stories, some good, some not so good. But from season 2-4, it was firing on all cylinders.

18. You know, I never watched B5 when it was on TV
I was always a Star Trek guy, and I didn't like the look of B5. But, geeks everywhere love it, so eventually I bought the season 1 DVD set and started watching them. I just finished season 4. I discovered that B5 is actually really fucking wicked.
