We took BabyG to see "Curious George" last night...
...and I found myself tearing up over the credits. The music, combined with the memories of reading the books as a child, and later to my son...a good friend giving him a Curious George doll when he was a newborn(that he still sleeps with, and is now well worn), and realizing that childhood doesn't last so very long at all, put me in a rather melancholy mood. And then MrG and BabyG looked at me and laughed at how Mama will cry over just about everything.

That said, it's a cute little lullabye of a movie. I liked how they named the ship the H.A. Rey. I didn't like all the creative license they took with the plot. The man in the yellow hat didn't really want to go on the adventure...but the son of the museum owner was a stitch and a half. :hi:

3. we loved it too
nothing too scary for a four-year-old, and no adult humor. i thought the girlfriend was a kind of unnecessary, but the whole movie was a treat.

5. Was Drew Barrymore the voice for her?
I meant to check the credits but was too busy sniffling over the artwork.

4. My daughter wants to see it too.
We've had to travel out of town lately to see any kids movies(college towns seem to prefer showing slasher flicks and bad comedies).

Last one we saw was Nanny McPhee, which I do recommend. It kept her on the edge of her seat throughout the entire showing.

7. Great movie.
It only helps that I adore Emma Thompson and have a bit of a crush on Colin Firth.

I heard both parents and children laughing throughout the theater. Lots of color and the mood was nicely set throughout the whole movie.

8. I love seeing movies with a good crowd of people. It's a real feel good
experience when a bunch of people experience something funny and upbeat together. :hi:

10. Loved it!
And the music was great. The boy insisted we read two of his Curious George books when we got home. :) And though I agree in spots that they did take a bit too much license, they tied really well into the different stories. Will Ferrell was FANTASTIC!! He really held back from his normal over-the-top slapstick stuff, and he was hilarious!

11. A good friend of ours bought James the hardcover edition with all
of the stories and a Curious George doll (that is currently getting ready to spend the evening at Grandma's) when he was a newborn. My father in law bought the edition for my daughter when she was 5. I was just a little surprised to see myself spilling over when the credits came on. It was wonderful music. I was going to see if there is a soundtrack out there.

I love what you did with your hearts.

15. I am too lazy to change my avatar. Someone on another message
board gave me a devilwoman sign they had made just for me and I keep meaning to change it...but hey, I did vote.

12. And some odd twists of tragedy around it, too
HA Rey dying soon before the Curious George TV shows were made; Alan Shalleck found dead a couple days before the movie came out...
