RIP - Bella May 1995-Feb 2006
I posted earlier this week on the pets group about Bella purring a lot and not quite acting like herself. It turned out that she had advanced lung cancer. We had to relieve her pain and let her go yesterday. We're missing her dearly.

My Love, My Bella. She made it through Katrina with us and never seemed to let all the displacement get to her. We all made it out together and now she's gone. We took her back to our home (that is still gutted) and burried her in the backyard outside her favorite window. She will never be forgotten.

1. Remember that all animals
live in a state of grace. I'm sure Bella May is purring in comfort now.

then take their leave.

Condolences to you and yours. Look for signs that she is still looking after you. The love does not perish with the broken vessel which held it.

12. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss
People don't understand how much our pets are part of the family.

I had a 17-year old cat that I had to put to sleep, and it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I was literally sick for a few weeks after that, things just didn't seem the same without him.

I now have 2 cats, one was rescued from the animal shelter, and another was brought to me by a neighbor after their son saw it being abused when it was just a kitten. The cat had been kicked, and thrown outside to spend the night in 20 degree temperatures! He was so small he fit in the palm of your hand.

You will eventually feel better, but please know that there are many out there who understand how you feel. Bella was a beautiful cat, and there are many who think you'll be reunited someday, when the time comes. She's not feeling any pain now, and she misses you too. 18. I am so sorry for your loss
As AndyA said, pets are part of our family and it hurts just as much to lose them as it would any other member of the family. She was beautiful ... and obviously loved very much. As long as she's in your heart, she'll always be with you.

20. I'm sorry for your loss, and the OP's loss.
We have two relatively young cats (3 & 4), and that's the good part.

Well, last night my TWENTY-year-old - well, I realized she's just not doing too well.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to take her to the vet, and a decision will have to be made. That's in my future the next few days.

25. Thank you all
for your kind thoughts. Indeed she IS still with us.

There are parties all around us. Mardi Gras is in full force and I'm having a bit of a problem getting into it now. Even though I had planned to celebrate this holiday to its' fullest this year.

We'll be going to a costume ball "M.O.M.'s Ball" in a couple of hours. That should help me keep my mind off of it.

It means so much that all of you took the time to send your condolences. Thanks DU!

What does not kill us, makes us stronger.
