Cat nesting behavior
That's when you know you have to shovel your desk: one of your cats actually nests in a pile and takes a bath.

:P

1. hey, that's normal, the cat is really a paperweight.
Usually curled up under the lamp for the heat it provides.

The cat prevents sudden gales from blowing away the papers on my desk.

2. She likes to hang out nearby and bless the works
but she usually sleeps under my desk, not on it... :D

and can often be seen in a deep embrace with the telephone.

18. One of mine has a thing going on with the remote control.
And she gets really pissy if I try to "borrow" it from her, while she's using it as a pillow. :)

4. Hmm, where have I seen that before...oh yeah...
on MY desk. If I am working, Pooky just has to sit right on the papers that I am grading and stare at me. He isn't hungry or thirsty, just being a cat. If I lift him to grab the next paper, he gives out this really plaintive meow and gives me the saddest look he can conjure up. I guess it is his way of letting me know that I should be playing (or napping) with him instead of working.

10. Mine know to either park under the desk when I'm working
or go lie down near the printer, in the only vaguely paperless spot :D. Evie just decided that if she couldn't be in my lap, she was going to park right there.

She passed out eventually. :loveya:

5. If I'm ever lonely all I have to do is open a book either sitting
down or laying in bed and *FLASH* there's a cat laying right over the pages.

Kind of like sparking up a joint and suddenly there's 2 friends at your door.

6. My cats do this too
Both my cats do this all the time when I'm working. The older cat is heavier and likes to sleep on my mousepad or keyboard. Here's a pic of him doing this:

8. Get two!
That way they'll keep each other company when you're not around. :)

Of our 7 cats, three are litter mates, and three are dad-son-daughter. The only one who's not related to any of the other cats is my oldest.

15. Yeah, cats are social creatures
Our older cat changed and became a lot more engaging when we got a kitten. They're both males.

I've heard some stories about cats not getting along though. It was after we got our kitten I heard this. From what I gather, it doesn't really work out with a male and a female cat. Female cats have a tendancy to be very territorial and bossy and will likely pick on male cats.

Luckily, it worked out with our cats. They wrestle everyday and our older cat (who's 12) has become a lot more active and engaging. I think the older cat was very lonely. My fiance lived with the cat by himself for years and when I moved in with him, the older one wasn't so engaging. But as soon as we got the kitten, they became best friends and they play together all the time now.

13. The cat always knows the most important piece of paper to
park on, too. Always.

I also have the instant company when I settle down to read. Sitting behind the book is no good, has to be in front of the printed page. Just reminding you who runs the house after all.

And they always get on the clean laurdry you are trying to fold.

I did have to nudge the pile away slightly so I'd have space to type, though. :D

17. You've noticed that too eh?

Quinn just likes to sit there and purr, unless I'm playing a game, in which case he stands up in front of the monitor at any "critical" time, thus getting me killed and forcing me to start over :P

He's gone from an impossibly cute kitten to a beautiful cat. Looks like he's taking up most of the desk too. :-)

28. My cat Midnight does that too.
She will decide to sleep on whatever you need currently and get really possesive of it. Obviously, she's all black like your cat too.

Midnight just has this stare. She is the supreme dominant animal and she will stare everything and everyone down without fear. Apparently, today my stepdad (not a catlover) knocked her into the toilet while she was drinking. He's now kind of scared of her because he said she just climbed out and sat down staring and hissing until he left the bathroom. Midnight will get him in the night. She does not realize she is 8.5lbs. She thinks she is 200lbs and she wins. Always. That's why she wears a black leather spiked collar.

30. It's an art installation in progress
I took pictures of the desk (minus the kitty) so that if I ever shovel the damn thing, I'll have proof that, er, it was as bad as it was.

Does your desk have cats too?
