2. Sci-fi with political undertones... some drama too... but |
|
A lot of political undertones. Anti-fascism stuff.
I still won't compare it with real life too much, but especially regarding the competition of the time (and a lot of TV now), B7 is a very strong television program.

The VHS tape releases might still be available for rent or purchase...
And I've heard BFS Enterprises is in the works for releasing a DVD set.
Season 4 seems to have held up better than the others - IMHO, of course.

4. Substituted for Dr. Who on my childhood PBS station |
|
After they discontinued Dr. Who, they showed Blake 7 for a while because it was evidently cheaper than Dr. Who.

on KETC channel 9 as well. I miss the old Dr Who but am SO looking forward to sci fi showing the episodes from last season beginning in March. Woo WHO!!! Even thought, thanks to bit torrent technology (THANK YOU Bram Cohen!!) I have them all and even on my iPod, I will watch the show on sci fi to support Dr Who in the US.

I did think the ending was kind of weird though, and not that satisfying. Maybe because the bad guys win.

The original ending constituted far more blood... and no 'dreamlike' camera effect to show everybody being shot to death. (Terry Nation objected to everybody being killed; but also consider how season 4 seems to have aged the best out of the entire series and season 4 was the only one without his involvement... :D )
I'm amazed they kept Avon's death offscreen; the blast from his gun followed by 9 Federation guns in audio form only allows a break in continuity that would allow a new series (later cancelled thanks to a fight between Paul Darrow and the production company) to be made with Avon still alive. :eyes:
