Besides Amazon where can I buy books online?
I'm looking for a copy of Hunter S. Thompson Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, just an old paperback well worn and read will do.

9. seconded-- Powell's ROCKS
In fact I bought an out-of-print Hunter S. Thompson book from them for Christmas for my girlfriend (Curse of Lono). Great selection, great prices, and still considered an "Indy" too, IIRC.

5. abe.com
American Book Exchange, though they have gone international now. Wide selection of book conditions/prices.

7. I use that loads
or rather abebooks.co.uk - I thought that it was "Advanced Book Exchange" rather than American, especially as it's based in Canada.

For those that don't know, it's a database of different book sellers all over the place - by buying from them you'll normally be supporting a small independent book-shop. They're ideal for second-hand books, including some great rarities.

12. Half.com
It's owned by E-Bay--but a lot of us "average" people sell our used textbooks and other books through it...

13. zooba.com
$9.95 per book and that includes the postage...a lot like Netflix but you keep the books. Make your list and you get one book a month from the list automatically. But you can buy as many as you want from their extensive lists. ALL $9.95

I've had it for several months now and love it. Have probably saved about $250 on the books I've bought.

15. Hey cool link but...
I see mostly right slanted books in their politics selection, that kinda disturbs me. That's a cool service though.

17. Oh? I bought Franken's books
from them and my latest 2 are Elie Wiesel's "Night" and Jimmy Carter's "Our Endangered Values". I just skip on by the drek, same as I would at Amazon or even in my local library.

Often look there when comparing prices on new and used books. It's all individual sellers.
